Maserati Gransport
Discussion
I had wanted a Gransport since I first saw one in 2005, it was car that was on my lottery list until depreciation did it's work for me instead, now I've got it the car is even better than I thought it would be, it's completely standard other than the secondary cats and the central resonator being replaced by a custom X-pipe
the car has a full Maserati history and had been looked after really well by the previous owner mechanically but was untidy cosmetically as the guy was very rich and used it as a daily snotter. anyway here's some pics of it after I had spent some time cleaning it up

I intend to keep the car for a long time as without spending a fortune (which I doubt i'll ever have) I can't think of anything i'd rather have and for how much I'll use it (8-10k p/a) for me it's the right mix of special and practical

That is absolutely stunning. I've been toying with the idea of replacing the BMW with a 3200 or gransport, as I'd really like a V8 while I'm able to (before I end up needing something far more practical).

I do love the 3200, the boomerang lights and bonnet vents look great, wish they had kept them for the GS but the horror stories were more than enough to put me off one. I like the 4200 but it doesn't really excite me, the differences between a GS and a facelift (post 05) 4200 are relatively minor but they add up to make it just about my perfect carhi Brett, met you at curborough recently in my blown z4m :-) was great to meet you and see the car, its lovely!!!! not QUITE as untidy as you make out tho :-) its actually in great order!! just needs a little TLC!!
any mods planned?? bet it would really free up some HP with a full exhaust and intake change :-)

Hi Byron, I remember it well, I've lost count of the amount of people I've told about your car since seeing it. Not sure about mods, removing the resonator and secondary cats made a big difference, picks up better and sounds great, might replace the two remaining cats with sports cats and look at the intake but from the bit of research I've done there's nothing much that can be done there without spending a lot of money.
How's your car? Done anything to it since I saw it? (Not that there's much else you could possibly do)

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist tinkering with it some more, when's the next members track day? I'll do my best to be there and will take the GS round now I'm more used to it. I stopped by there on Saturday for the Marcos owners club today, some very impressive cars there
Hopefully catch you soon

Was this the one on autotrader?
It was before I bought it at the start of March, there has been an almost identical one on there recently thoughI have a soft spot for these.
Are there any software upgrades to speed up the gearshifts?

It's the black and white seats which gave it away. Any interior pics?

I like the interior combo, I specifically wanted one with tech cloth, though it has turned out to be a bit of a nightmare to keep clean so i'm considering getting it re-trimmed in alacantaraI have a soft spot for these.

anyway here's the interior as it is
Not sure about software updates, mine's an 06 which I think was when the gearbox had its final set of updates, though it has been serviced throughout it's life at a main dealer so I guess they'd have applied any updates that were available. the changes are pretty quick in sport mode but a bit crap in normal and it's still not much fun to drive in stop-start or crawling traffic
I bet that looks stunning on your car
I think they're claimed at 400 but I've seen a few dyno readouts of standard cars being over 420 and ones with the same exhaust mods as I've done at over 440, whatever it is its quick enough for me, far from the fastest thing on the road but with its relatively short gearing and not over the top power you can at least use all the revs in a few gears
I wouldn't mind bigger exhaust tips but I want to keep it valved and for that the only option is the Larini which is expensive

Wow that's stunning, a real great colour combination for that car
I'd definitely recommend you have a look, I can't think of anything that gets near it for the money, they've held their money really well over the last few years too since the Aussies have started shipping them over their which has supposedley left under 200 in the UK
