Can anyone recommend a CD player (separate) for around £100. We need a new one at work (primary school) and it needs to be fairly robust as it will be used by both staff and pupils alike, as well as being kept in the multi-functional school hall (ball games as well as dinners!)
I'm looking at the Cambridge Audio Topaz CD5 - anything better at that price?

Thanks in advance.

I'd just buy the cheapest one that you can find and then replace when required. I can't image high fidelity is on the agenda?

You're right - but was looking for something with a bit of a good reputation for not falling apart when the first sandwich lands on it biggrin

How about a DJ deck for a fraction more budget wise (or maybe secondhand) as they are likely to be a bit more rugged etc:-

Thanks for the link - We're replacing a TEAC CD player as we've had nothing but trouble with it. We've decided on the Marantz CD5004 and have negotiated a good price with a local independent shop.

Good chooce. You won't go far wrong with a Marantz. Never owned a Teac, so thanks for the heads up RE reliability.

Buy a cheap Sony or Toshiba blue ray player...you'll get one for £50 - 80 on Amazon. WIll blow most expensive stuff out of the water (as someone who's owned Linn, Meridian, Bryston, Mark Levinson in the past). WIll play anything you throw at them. Both manufacturers make the source components rather than buying in too.
