Anyone want a G-mail account?
Discussion
Evening all, remember reading something a while ago, all a bit conspiracy theory but plausible nonetheless, basically saying that the Gmail system was a way for Google to track all your web use and sell those details on to whomsoever they please. It's out there, just do a Google for 'why Googlemail is evil' (how ironic eh?) and you'll find it. It was on here somewhere so a search of the threads might also reveal it. Made for good reading.

I've got a few spare invites for Gmail if anyone wants one. There is so much BS being written about Gmail and the privacy issue. Paranoia sets in and everyone starts believing the worse. So they scan your email to target ads? What's new about that?
Email is unsecure - period. Unless you are using some form of encryption, don't send anything that you consider private or don't want people to see - regardless of what email provider you use. Most providers now scan email and attachments for viruses and many now scan using anti spam engines. What's the difference? They can still see the content of your emails. You could argue that Gmail have been a lot more honest and upfront by admitting that they will use targetted ads.
