I've finally been able to get my summer tyres collected and am now wanting to have them fitted (car is on winter tyres at the moment). They "summers" need to be delivered, ideally directly to a tyre fitter. I will then drive the 911 there, swap the tyres, drive off and return later to collect the removed winter tyres.

Can anyone reccommend a tyre fitter in London or Hertfordshire/Bucks etc that is:

a) Careful with alloy wheels when fitting;
b) Likely not to be inconvenienced by the above multiple steps?

Thanks!

Always use Wembley tyres too. Cheap, and have never caused any wheel damage. Actually in Neasden, not Wembley.

Yeah, I've been using Wembley tyres since 2001 and have always been happy with them, I was there just a couple of weeks ago getting 2 tyres for my Golf.

But, they don't strike me like a company that would want to deal with the "palava" involved in this case, they seem a bit rough and ready with all the East Europeans guys hanging about. Maybe I'm just worrying too much?

I understand what you mean but you may find that a paper pic of the Queen helps

Called them to check but they were not interested. He was quite straightforward as usual, "too many potential issues with things getting lost etc".

Blackboots in Chesham use a touchless tyre machine and know what they're doing:

Blackboots

They are also very good at wheel alignment which is a good investment if you're spending a lot on tyres and want to get the most out of your car and it's tyres.

The downside is they charge £18 per tyre for fitting but they are worth it when you consider the cost and hassle if your wheels get damaged. If you haven't bought your tyres already then give them a call as they can sometimes give you a competitive price. Ignore the tyre prices on their website.

Thanks for the heads up, spoke with Allan and he seems available to come to my place to do this.

Can you confirm he handles the wheels ok with no damage/marks etc?

What on earth are you doing driving around on winter tyres at the end of June?!?! They're supposed to be used when temps are below 7 deg IIRC ?!?!? I know the weather's been st but not that st!

You're assumption there is that I am actually driving... In fact the most I've done is 5 miles to the golf course every other week and not gone over 50mph weeping

Looking forward to an Euro trip in July!

as i say he's done a few of my cars and hes not damaged anything yet, that said its a no frills service i have to be honest, so if your looking for surgical masks, kid gloves and the latest machinery then perhaps not. hes more functional than strategic in his approach and equipment, what car do you need the wheels changing on? if its a regular c2 or c4 etc wheel then go for it, if its some form of rare or marginally delicate painted, powdercoated etc then pass
