R500 sequential - selecting reverse

Has anyone had difficulty seflecting reverse on a sequential box?

When I parked it up today and then got back in it 20 mins later, it wouldn't select N or R.
I drove it down the road and stopped several times to try again, with the same result.

Then I used It briefly later and all was ok again, is it user error or . . . .
The box is low mileage at 3500 and oil level is good and oil is quite clean.

The interlock cable needs adjusting, That's the cable which is attached to the collar you lift on the gear lever. The other end has an adjuster. You just need set it so it won't engine neutral or reverse unless you lift the collar. Simples.

Hopefully you realised you have to lift the collar???

Hi Teflon,
My only experience of sequentials have always had a button or lever (only two I've used in others people's cars)
So when I went to view this one I was surprised it didn't have anything.
The collar didn't move and it would select reverse.

A quick squirt with lube and some 'persuasion' it is now freed off and works properly.

The previous owner hadn't used it for a year, so I'm going through it this morning.
