As title, 'if' one were to fit a single turbo to a 450 with forged pistons giving around 9.0:1 [yet to be confirmed] what would be the best cam to fit? ears
PS; have ported bv heads and manifold and flared trumpet base/large throttle/mappable ignition and spark/uprated clutch, blah, blah.

Mac, I had a small moment yesterday which has caused me to rethink my power requirements scratchchin What sort of torque/power are you thinking about with your if/maybe/when turbo install???

So, do you mean you have enough or not enough power?

Not enough. Possibly. Don't want to hijack Mac's thread, but a few extra bhp here and there won't cut it (apart from costing frighteningly large amounts of money for relatively small gains).

Dunno, just thinking at the moment, probably a bit like Mac smile

Hiya mate wavey not looking for crazy power 'if' I do, but approaching 400 would be nice. I have some low comp' forged pistons, but my heads are skimmed so I really need to work out exact comp' ratio first, then choose suitable cam, etc.

Why don't you look on the Real Steel website. They specifically grind a cam for forced induction. What you are looking for is minimum overlap between the exhaust and inlet lobes so that you aren't simply pumping your compressed air out through the exhaust. I will be trying one of these cams sometime soon.

Do you need forged pistons or could you get away with just fitting thicker head gaskets.

When replacing the pistons do you fit new rings ?
