Has anyone done this to a 997?

If not, why not?

Why would you? Seems like a lot of effort?

1. It would cost more to do than sell your non-PDK car and buy a PDK one and there are many to choose from
2. You would have a very hard time selling it afterwards
3. It's a bonkers idea and makes no sense
4. That should be enough reasons.

For Gods sake don't convert any more increasing rare manual cars to PDK choice on 2nd hand market is going to be big problem in the future already.

Surely it would be financial suicide?

It would cost a fortune - and devalue the car (originality is key on most Porsches).

And by, bye any warranty, or goodwill, unless carried out by Porsche themselves - so even more money!

Thanks guys, but I was more interested in the technical barriers.

So excluding financial concerns, was wondering how technically difficult.

Massive, I'd expect it'd require a new wiring loom, mulitple ecu changes and well as new interior parts and dashboard dials etc.

It's a bit like saying can I turn a C2 into a C4, the answer is yes, but it'd cost way more than the difference in buying/selling and you'd be left with a car that'd be very very hard to ever sell again.

likely to require a different loom with the correct sensors etc to control the PDK computer. physically I'd guess it's pretty simple on a 911.

Thanks guys, was the electrical side I was concerned about. Quaife gearbox option in the Elise is obviously far more simple ...

Anything is possible, given the expertise, finances and time.

Its definitely possible, thats for sure.

Its also the daftest idea I have ever heard.

Mind you, Autofarm used to retro-fit Sportomatics to 5spd 911 SCs. It wasn't very popular.

Ha ha yes. However, I strongly suspect that was a slightly simpler conversion than this!

This is very easy.

Walk into an OPC, ask to buy a car with PDK in it. Job. Jobbed.

No. Because nobody would want to fit a worse gearbox. getmecoat
