Alfa GT

Hi,

Had my GT for 3 months now after trading my Focus for it. I saw one in a showroom and decided that was my next car so here she is an '07 GT JTD in Stromboli Grey.

Thanks for the comments, the 147 belongs to my Dad, also a 156 parks up across the road from time to time.

If that is a 150BHP JTDM, it is a great engine for a diesel...I have a 156 JTDM 150 ( one of the last ones) and the torque delivery is amazing....they are even better if given a remap...!!

You may already know but those GT alloys are quite 'soft' and prone to bending out of shape; my 156 had them and I replaced them with a set of 16 Selespeeds for summer/Teledials for winter. Much easier to keep clean as well !!

Is the 150 the same as the GM 150 as found in the old Astra, Vectra etc which originally comes from Fiat? Or is it different?

Loses points on the colour. Grey should not be a colour option on an Alfa!

It is the 150 JTDm engine that is in it, not too sure if its the old Fiat engine but I know its used in some GM cars like the Vectra.

Lovely car, good choice and far more practical than they look. I'm just coming to the end of a happy 4.5 years with mine and it's been one of the best cars I have owned. Find a good independent, keep on top of the maintenance and I hope you have as much enjoyment as I did. I'm still staying Alfa though, a 159 3.2 arrives next week

If memory serves, its an FSA engine which was co-developed between Fiat and GM. My Saab has the same lump. Its a nice lump for a diesel, but I think the VAG PD is slightly better on fuel.

Anyways, love the look of the GT. I was looking at those on Autotrader last night. Do the rear seats fold down?

Hmmm...This could be a good possibility for my next car. DO you think you can fit a bicycle in the back with the seats folded down?

You should be able to get a bike in no problem. Even with the seats up the boot is a fair size. I can have a check fitting my bike in the boot if you need.

Got a 9-5 with that engine - far, far better than I thought it would be but not so great on fuel.

I'd rather have a GT with it in however, but I need the space.

Fiddly but do-able with both wheels on the bike. Take one wheel off and I've easily had two bicycles in there.

I may have got this completly wrong but do these engines suffer from the dreaded DPF problems? Or is it just the EGR valves that clog up?
