I've always loved these cars and now I have £1500 burning a hole in my pocket, I'm in the market for a large waffty coupe and what better solution than a CLK as there seems to be half decent xample around.

However, would I be mental to consider these half decent??? Would I be spend the same amount to keep it one on the road each year.

I'm looking at it for my daily ride to the office each day for a 12 mile commute.

I'd plan to buy one and give it some TLC

Mechanically they are tough but at that sort of money, you will most likely be looking at a lot of rust. Fine if you are not bothered about cosmetics.

I've got an old CLK with no rust at all. The only problem I've had is it needs some minor cosmetic work done inside and I've found getting parts hard unless I want to pay full whack for them at Mercedes.

eBay is your friend.

Trouble with 208s is rot. Pre '99 and you may be lucky..if it has no rot, chances are higher thtat it has been painted, rather than Mecedes paying up under the Mobilo warranty...
