Looking to Start a career in Motor Sales in Bristol

Hi all,
after 5 years working in Engineering, I have decided it really is not the career for me, and I want to work in the motor industry, something I have always dreamed of! I am however, finding it particularly difficult due to how franchising works to find any vacancies for non experienced sales positions in the Bristol area (looking to relocate closer to the other half). Id imagine in the vastness of PH there is someone who works in the trade in that area, if so, do you know of any dealer franchises searching for new staff at the moment?
Although not previously experienced in the motor sales industry, it is an environment I love and spend a lot of time in. I regularly test drive different vehicles just to be around the whole experience of car sales and to learn the approach to the job different salesmen take. I have an almost obsessive relationship with cars and want nothing more than to bring this enthusiasm to a dealership and sell brilliant cars to happy customers.
any info from anyone would be hugely appreciated.

Hopefully when you land your dream job you won't mind time wasters wasting fuel and your time with no prospect for a sale.
A mate of mine works @ Dick Lovett BMW out by the Mall but is on the marketing side so is employed by BMW UK, not Dick Lovett directly.
Most of the dealers I know of are part of larger groups e.g. Bristol Audi is the same people that own Cardiff Audi snd Swansea Audi IIRC. This particular group were looking for staff about 2-3 months ago.

im aware that there are prospects in engineering, maybe ive not had the best introduction to it because all I do is sit at a desk creating paper documents. Ive done minimal actual engineering work in the last 3 years and i believe its having a massive detrimental effect on my overall well being. Im just constantly bored at work!
I like cars and I feel like something target driven would suit me a lot better.

No disrespect, but this is almost exactly the storyline in The Archers some weeks back - concerning an engineering graduate not getting the juicy contracts to work on!I like cars and I feel like something target driven would suit me a lot better.
So, in life imitating art mode, you need to find an overseas job and use that to leverage your current employer into getting you a better position. Job jobbed!
(Working in sales is not a bed of roses - and in the competitive car sales arena I have no doubt it will be bluddy hard. Ever wondered why - if you visit car showrooms - the salesman knows less about the car than you do? It's because he doesn't need to - it isn't a pre-requisite whereas closing the deal and cold calling will be far more beneficial. IMHO)

You have a point. My late father (C ENG Mech E) worked for 20+ years in UK engineering, thoroughly fed up with what he considered idiots buying bigger houses / nicer cars etc than him, getting much faster promotion etc etcplus the missus is far too affectionate towards britain (mainly her family) whereas I would jump at the chance of working in the US or Oz or somewhere..
Having said that he did eventually get to MD level of a US company.
The UK undervalues engineering - has for 50 years or more. The tide may be turning - slowly - but maybe you can use your skills in an associated role?
Lastly, if you're young enough and your wife isn't completely rooted here, just show her the lifestyle available if you emigrate. That might change her view...

might be worth a try, its true what you say, i work in a multinational company and the UK ends wages are not proportional to the US wages, hell we even get yanks coming over saying what your only on xxK a year, in the US we wanna be on 100k dollars by 30 in engineering or your dumb! maybe myself and the other half need a sit down chat at the endless possibilities of moving elsewhereHaving said that he did eventually get to MD level of a US company.
