Good morning all,

Excellent day at Blyton Park yesterday - 3 practices and 3 times runs at this super facility made for a very nice day out. A strong field of Morgans, Triumphs and TVRs enjoyed, not only their own series but some very close competition with each other as the notional results attached readily testify. For completeness I have included the Paul Matty Lotus Elans but they enjoy their own series in isolation and are not affiliated to Classic Marques in any way.

The intra-marque rivalry was intense with the Morgans of Simon Baines and Chris Bailey just a fag packet apart all day - Chris was coping with a failed shock absorber and Simon was learning the new car but a handicap finish just 0.62 apart shows how close it was. We also took the opportunity to weigh all the Morgan cars and were surprised at some of the results - especially Simon whose lightweight stripped out racer weighed exactly the same as the Ashby's fully fitted luxury cruiser.

The Triumphs enjoyed their day too with Nick Smith (TR6) and Martin Dyson (GT6) trading best times. Martin's experience finally prevailed and he brought the GT6 home in a creditable 7th overall against some very capable opposition. Kevin Bryant's TR3A suffered a dicky clutch and had to withdraw unfortunately.

The TVRs were entertaining as usual and Jes Firth's Father's Day outing was great fun, (and not just for him - even the marshals applauded his optimistic attempts to defy the laws of physics). Unfortunately for Jes, his best time was ruled FWO by the line judge and so the winner's trophy was wrenched from his grasp and given to Steve Lyle whose own sideways antics had caused amusement throughout.

The involvement of our friends in the Morgans for the first time was brilliant and I look forward to seeing them again soon. The Triumphs are always entertaining and this was their third outing with Classic Marques this year, so good to see you folks again.

Classic Marques next outing is at Loton Park on 10/11 August so I'll see you there if you're going.

If you'd like to come and join the series, please see a copy of our regs and entry form here : http://media.wix.com/ugd//fd72d2_c02a81e4b06f08ff7...
