I have had a moment of madness and was considering buying a 997 Cab to use over summer but the one I am looking at doesn't have a spots exhaust (which my old C4S coupe had) so I was just wondering what my options were? I'm happy to do anything really including decat etc. I just feel that the standard exhaust note is just a bit too quiet for my liking.

Ideally I don't want to spend too much money on the exhaust system because obviously if I'm only keeping the car for 3 months it'll be a bit of a waste really. So what would be the most cpost effective option? I've heard about Fabspeed muffler bypass pipes, anyone have any experience with them? Or know the cost?

Thanks for any help.

Porsche with a loud good exhaust yes, but i wouldnt go for a bypass on a Cab. Me personally i would look a prat in a Cab with a loud exhaust. Dansk do some good ones without going down the bypass route. Bypass is very loud.

lambo, europipe/akropovic aside to my ears only the OEM Porsche 'zaust hit the spot with the bog 997, all the others have problem with booming and/or harshness that you just don't get with the Porsche one.

In my opinion i would steer well clear of bypass and decat, it might be louder but it won't be sweeter.

lots of people seem to speak highly of the carnewal exhaust mods if you fancy a trip to Belgium.

I really think Sports Exhaust is a must have with a Porsche, they really sound quite weedy without.
You can save money on the Porsche option by getting Carnewal to fit their system or supply it on an exchange basis, this brings it to well under £1000 and the only negative is you can't switch it off. It's pretty quiet on motorways but if it's your only car I'd want to be able to silence it.

buy second hand set of standard boxes on ebay for naff all, take them to http://www.haywardandscott.com/ to tweak for couple hundred quid and swop them over. means you can stick OEM pipes back on when it comes to sell. Did this few years back on 997 and worked a treat.
