New HD Freeview Modulators starting to appear in the market, I wonder if they'll cope with 3D?
A friend had the same idea, so today we tried it with one of the first modulators in the uk.
Well bugger me!
Whilst we could not get the HD out to HD Freeview conversion to work we did find something else out.
3d even works via composite video.
Sky pushes out a 3d side by side signal which our standard Freeview modulator can see and encode up to freeview channel.
TV sees a side by side image and offers up a 3d option which then clocks the screen info and bingo 3d composite is available.
Now if we can repeat that, but using a Freeview HD modulator, then any 3d TV in the house with Freeview HD in it would be able to view it.
These modulators are not cheap, but if you have a growing number of tv's then it is cheaper than a big HD matrix!

No.1 If you only want one or two HD Sky boxes in the house and lots of TV's to feed then this will be ALOT cheaper than using a matrix.
No.2 If you only have a Coax TV system and want to share HD around the house then this will allow you to go it with no re-wiring or cat6 install.
Now in my book, that makes it very attractive, just think how many houses have just a coax tv network and Sky?

Hi JimbobCurrently to do it in HD is significantly over £1k, however we are expecting prices to drop as the demand picks up.
To do this with a normal Freeview SD modulation we are talking around £500, but currently they can only take Compsite or S Video as an input.
