Just getting the car ready for my first race, this Sunday at Knockhill is rounds 5+6 of the sports and saloons championship in amongst about 7 other races, should be a good day, it will be on motors TV July 10th at 18:54. Fingers crossed I do the Nobility proud and finish incident free somewhere in the top half of the pack, 20 cars on the grid.

Last night found a brilliant use for a flexible chopping board to allow me a gearbox oil change without taking the floor off... The oil came out black and thick with crud, it's a wonder how the box didn't fail!

Also fitted a front towing eye even if access is a bit tight but don't want to leave the coolers exposed to stones

Some carbon engine bling finished to rid it of rusty steel

But still have a mission to get the car ready for the weekend, the list of jobs remaining to be done...

Fit new thermostat (old one is off)
Bleed brakes
Engine oil change
Re-fit battery
Re-fit turbos (still at universal for check up)
Re-fit intercooler with nimbus heat shield
Wire in transponder
Figure out why half the lights on the car and cigarette lighter socket don't work
Fit roll bar padding to cage near ma noggin.
Fit and set up regulator and new fuel line.

frown this is going to require a few late nights!

Good luck with that, mate! I've just stuck my quiet tail- pipes on (six stainless steel bolts) and I now need to go lie down! Spannering is not one of my favourite past times smile

Carbon pipes from carbonology,
never thought about looking at tow straps but don't have time now, just have to keep the scrutinisers happy for now, Might look into that after this is done.

I'm in the middle of changing the thermostat, can anyone confirm if any sealant is required on the housing or do I just re-use the rubber seal and bolt it back up?

Cheers

Graham

I would be tempted to heat wrap that carbon tube and the big silicone one that goes to the plenum no point in big power iff your gonna loose it tho heat soak also the tube to front turbo have you heat shielded your fuel lines as well just wondering

Thanks guys,

I understand the concerns regarding heat as my car used to suffer but I am only running 1 bar boost (500bhp) and water injection now, heat soak hasnt been an issue for a while since fitting the water, changing the rear mesh and removing the lower stuff, opening up side pods and putting heat shielding around turbos, ive done a dozen days on track recently and the intercooler and even that carbon pipe stay pretty cool, the hard pipe to the plenum doesn't need wrapped, there shouldn't be any problems during two 12 lap races that are a couple of hours apart.

I've just fitted the new fuel lines last night and regulator, the lines are really short so that should be an improvement over the previous set up, I've got heat wrap for that too.

My car was set up ride height and corner weighted by Jetstream, a few changes since then and the slicks put more rake on the car cause of the taller rear tyres, but I don't have time to check corner weights again, it felt good enough on track last practice anyway.

Re the catch tank I've spoken to a couple of people who think because my catch tank drains to the sump rather than just a breather tank, I won't need another tank, not to mention the regulations state our cars should be fitted with a 3 litre overflow tank because of the oil capacity, I assume yours is not this size as I can't think where there is any space for a tank that size in that area.

I think my driving will be the main concern wink not the car ability to perform!

Oh Matty, that's a shame, would love some support but ill need to enter something down south for that lol

Well my lovely Vikki helped me bleed the brakes last night, got my battery back in the car and done some re-arranging of regulator plumbing after a bit of guidance from the helpful mr perry. Done a check of water pipes and replaced a relay for the fuel pumps that was looking very tired and corroded on the terminals.

I also removed the old tank to fuel pump lines and the two bullet filters and replaced with just new hose, the filters were clear so that proves after a year of abuse none of the tank foam or anything deteriorated and the filters were just a restriction.

Only a couple of jobs left to do now but still no sign of these bloody turbos! Wooosa
