Listening to music on the 991 PCM

If I understand correctly, if you don't want to spec an optional CD autochanger on the new 991, you have two main options to listen to your own music:

1) The PCM has an allocated (10GB ??) amount of space onto which mp3 music files can be downloaded.

2) There is an "audio interface" in the glovebox where you can plug in a data stick of some kind containing mp3 files etc

I also understand that with the correct software you can include album covers and track name / data in the PCM screen.

Can anyone advise:

- The best software to convert CDs into the appropriate format?
- What type of external data drive is required?
- Any other guidance / suggestions ?!

The glovebox USB just takes a normal USB flash drive. Album art appears in the display if it's part of the mp3 file's metadata.

991's have a 40gb hard drive to store your own music

You can use anything from itunes to windows media player to copy cd's into MP3 format. Make sure you add in the album covers (usually obtained from the likes of Amazon). If you are going to a real geek like me then you could use DBPoweramp to copy files to MP3 format.

Is this the same for the Panamera? I have the latest pcm with the full postcode search.

How do I get it into the hard drive as there odd no USB slot in my car, I have Bluetooth though.

^it uses the USB slot to copy to the jukebox, so you might not be able to use it.

7-digit postcode is not necessarily the latest version - it was on v3. It's v4.something now with the jukebox.

From memory is 4. something. Don't have the car at the moment due to accident so can't check but would like to do this if possible before or summer road trip.

When you press the media button on the PCM you should see an option for Jukebox. If you don't see it then you don't have it!

If you have the option of Universal Audio Interface in your car then you will find as USB port in the centre armrest (Cayenne/Panamera). You can then download music tracks from a USB memory stick, alternatively you can also down load from the disc drive from either a music CD or a MP3 data CD.

I have text and email reading but there isn't a jukebox option in media just BT aux, CD, tuner.

Just wanted to check that nothing had changed in the 6-7 months since I created the original thread...?

8 weeks until I collect my car, so need to start sorting my music out!

Does the 991 PCM have the ability to play FLAC files??

Ok, thanks. Is one better than the other, or are they just different formats with the same outcome?

I converted my FLAC files down to mp3 320 for mobile use. You'll fill the thing up too quickly with FLAC even if it did play them.
