Hi gents

I would really appreciate your experience and advice! I am in the process of buying myself a new chimaera! I had one in the past which was very well sorted outriggers, cam clutch etc!
I was after something similar again but I have been offered a very low mileage (25k) 97 450! The car has had all new shocks and a supporting service history but has original outriggers clutch can etc! It is dry stored and used on dry days! The car looks lovely although I am yet to view!
Would you go for a car like this or one that has has the work done?
Advise appreciated!!

Depends on the price, I would try and get it up on a ramp to have a poke around. If it needs the work doing and the price reflects it the deal might be worth doing.

Remember there are loads out there, its a buyers market.

There is nothing wrong with it still having original stuff as long as the original stuff is in good order, my 95 Chimaera is still wearing its original outriggers at close to 100k miles!

^^Thank you for the reply ^^^^ i am interested to hear people's experiences with original low mileage cars vs higher mileage cars that have had known weaknesses replaced!

I have a 97 on original chassis and it is mint.

Price potentially sounds very good if the chassis is sound.

Got pics?

97 model is prone to chassis powder coat failing, water getting underneath and the rot starts, older chassis were less prone. However, having said that my 98, which would suffer the same problem, bought with 12,100 miles, dry use only has a very good chassis (looked over by Willow Sports), so the one you're interested could be OK. Just give it a good look over or get someone to do it for you.

I have a 99 model that has completed 31k, still on original everything, outriggers have been looked after and still look good, as does the chassis.
If it has been looked after and maintained fastidiously, then there should be no issues

If you want I produced a buyers guide / check list for the griff / chimaera you are welcome to a copy of if you PM me. Otherwise if it is near Gloucester I would be happy to look at it with you.

Ditto my 97. (worst chassis finish ever; apparently)
Probably will need doing some year soon, but not so far.
