Siezed chain link

My chain has a sized link. It is only a few hundred miles old and otherwise in good condition. Can it be repaired by a numpty like me or is it a new chain?

10 speed road by the way.

After splitting and rejoining a chain, if the link I'd used wasn't moving properly I used to bend it gently from 1 or two links either side back and forth from side to side (the way it isn't meant to go), not up and down (the way it is supposed to go). It used to loosen it up. That was on a 7 speed many years ago though.

Re-reading that it's a bit Finbar Saunders but I'm sure you get the idea.

When you say 'seized' do you mean it's kinked and won't straighten? If so you should be able to sort it by twisting it hard from side to side having sprayed it with GT85 or similar.

Yes, one link that is not bending. I've given it a good lube. I have a chain splitter but have never used it. At least I can ride it to the bike shop tomorrow. After I use the splitter, it will be s rap knowing my luck!

By the way, it was fine on Sunday and I noticed a click every couple of pedal revs on the ride to work this morning.

Do you think a bit of crap has gotten stuck in there?
