One for the TrafPol, last night myself and group of like minded individuals had secretly arranged a small meet-up in a layby off a quite section of duel carrageway
Unfortunatly the numbers got a bit out of hand and I'd guess about 50+ cars turned up
Some bright spark had placed the information on a website which the local police had seen and dispatched a Traffic Car to attend to the 'meeting'
The Traffic car drove slowly down the layby making a note of everyones registation and then parked up, and when a CCTV van arrived everyone cleared off
I can't see what offence would have been commited I guess they were just taking details in case they pulled anyone later in the night, but it just makes you feel guilty when your just parked in a public layby

Is it not a public order offence for more than two people to meet and discuss something in a public place? Or is it just not YET

just so long as the drivers of the vehicles are doing so at the annoyance of other road users or driving without due care etc..

Otherwise..one warning...then your motor gets lifted..

Once parked up no one was actually driving, and very few people were even in their cars

When you say one warning, I presume they actually have a word with you, not just note down your reg I could have just been broken down and waiting for the RAC, it is a TVR you know

I beleive you get at least a written warning that you have been filmed attending an illegal "Cruise" before they try to impound your car.

It is the doughnuts and "wheelying" and loud music they don't like.

Sounds like th CCTV footage was a precaution.

I don't think you have anything to worry about if you WERE being sensible.

Cheers,

Steve.

No one was driving anywhere, and I think only one car had it's radio on (when I say radio I actually think they were watching a DVD) and we were at least 5 miles from the nearest house, or any other sign of life

My car was parked up, and actually couldn't move if I wanted to as the lad behind me had blocked me in
Would I be right in saying the warning is in the form of Section 59

That really is quite scary
reform act Section 50 said:

Where a constable in uniform has reasonable grounds for believing that a motor vehicle is being used on any occasion in a manner which is likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public he shall have the power to seize and remove the motor vehicle

So you don't even have to actually commit the crime, just look like your going to
So being a bit over the top, owning a car that is capable of exceding a 30mph speed limit could get your car impounded as by exceding a 30 limit you could cause annoyance to someone
I know thats not likely but by the letter of the law all motorists are criminals, may as well be hung for a sheep as a goat, or whatever the saying is, I'm off to do some drifting round the island at the bottom of the street

Police are not all fookmooks as our good street (and others) show. I trust in their judgement at least 75% of the time. The other 25% i read about here

Police Reform Act section 59 said said:

(7) Subsection (3)(c) does not authorise entry into a private dwelling house.

and

"private dwelling house" does not include any garage or other structure occupied with the dwelling house, or any land appurtenant to the dwelling house.

My garage is integral with the private dwelling house, can this be entered?

probably not.....

I will make clear though...that confiscations are usually made out on the streets at the time....as it's best practise...

It's a cracking law and is getting used more and more...

£106 to get car back.....£12 per day storage.....
