Guys
Noticed recently that I have a blue ish smoke coming from the near side exhaust pipe, this only happens on idle though, once you drive off, no problem at all, performs as it should as well
They are T28 turbos and I have a split Hayward and Scott exhaust
Any help appreciated
Andy

Maybe turbo oil seals.

Mine did that if left at idle for a few minutes but was totally fine otherwise. Refurbed turbos and idle problem disappeared. Could have lived with it but it gets the wrong attention in traffic Jams..lol

They do have oil seals, it's just that they are not like the normal type of oil seal that you normally think of - they are more like piston rings.

As has been said, smoking usually means the seal is worn and a refurb is in order.

According to universal turbos its controlled by back pressure from exhaust etc

Pretty normal for T28 to smoke a bit on idle .

They mean that back pressure helps the seal to work.

A previous car (Escort Cosworth) did this to the point where I couldn't let it idle from cold for fear of engulfing the neighbours. Driving off from cold would be fine though as I assume the smoke was thin enough to not be noticed.

Turned out to be turbo oil seals but only had it refurbed after another 20k miles and it didn't use much more oil than it ever did beforehand.
