Good move from them.

Now they just need to back track compulsory Kinect and the spying features and they'll have all the lost sales again.

No there isn't. There's 57 pages of talk about the Xbox one and 1 page of talk (from the last 30mins) about my topic.

I'm a Sony fanboy and have no intention of going into the Xbox thread any longer - so i figured there might be a couple other chaps who are in the same boat and could potentially miss the news.

Is that ok with you sir?

And so the back pedalling begins. This was bound to happen, they are being slaughtered by the PS4 in preorders.

How long will it take them to change how Kinnect works now?

You mean the thing that can be turned off? And is only listening for the Xbox On voice command anyway?

The only reason they are changing their stance is they were getting hammered by everyone and IMO they were expecting Sony to do the exact same as them with regards to their DRM policy.
The person/s who took this gamble should be fired as it showed complete arrogance towards the consumer on a device which is vital for Microsoft.

Sony played their cards brilliantly !

You understand in order to hear 'xbox on' it has to parse everything else?

The key word is "listening". To everything. All the time.

Acting on a string of words - XBOX On.

Hmmmmm...... what else could it be programmed to listen for (and record)?

Nah, Governments or malicious parties would never do anything so despicable, would they?

I'm along the lines of "F*** 'em" for thinking it was a good idea in the first place.

Still no want for the Xbox ONE here, I reserve the right to change my mind as and when I see fit wink

Yup Im in the same boat. Without sounding dramatic (its only a games console end of the day) I think what they were trying to do is damn arrogant and controlling - they have instantly proved that what they were doing is unnecessary and merely for their gain.

I just hope that Sony were always planning to do what they have done and that it wasn't a last minute scramble to change the presentation once they had watched the Xbox murder itself.

Either way I have a PS4 ordered with Amazon (just to reserve one, ill hopefully get a deal from a nearby shop (gotta love a midnight release!) nearer release)!!

The article is pretty much admission that the proposals aren't required - they were floating them to see how the public reacted and what hey could get away with - thankfully consumers made their voice heard.

The issues with kinnect don't bother me, just point it at the wall / unplug the box. I still can't shake the feeling that they will still have the best developers behind them though and as a gamer it's the games I'm interested in. I won't be buying either at release, but if it's apparent after a period that the xbox has the 'better' games, I'll be getting one.

Xbox has Halo...that's me sold without even worrying about any of the other stuff.
