Hi guys,

I went on my first track day a few months ago, Snetterton 300 with the BMW car club - I had an absolute blast and I've been itching to go on another TD ever since.

I really want to go on another TD in my E90 330d before I splash out and buy a dedicated TD car (probably an E36 325/330i) but one thing I noticed that really made my car hard work (beyond the weight) is the seatbelt... it offers no support at all when corning and I often ended up in the passenger seat, despite best efforts to push myself back on the steering wheel!

Is there anyway I can somehow lock the seatbelt, so it stays locked for the duration of the TD? Or another solution? I'm guessing not but thought I'd ask... I can see why everyone has a harness for a track car!

Finally, having done Snetterton, what would you recomend for a second course - ideally something fairly wide/ good run offs etc whilst I'm still in training and most importantly a good, reputable TD company. I felt very safe at the BMWCC organised event but their next one is a way off - I'm hoping to go again inside of a month due to work commitments after that.

ps; if you see any good looking E36's/46's... let me know! Budget around 2-3K

Thanks,

Sean

Google CG-Lock. Never used one but it's designed to solve the problem you describe.

Edit: I found a picture:

I have CG Locks on my track car. They definitely help keep you planted in the seat. No where near as good as a harness obviously but a big improvement.

Nice picture you found!

That looks quite good, it appears to only hold the part around your waist tight though, it doesn't look like it locks the part of the seatbelt that runs over your shoulder?

Will do some reading!

Cheers

That's right, only the lap part is tight but that's an improvement as you are hanging on to the wheel anyway.

By the looks of it, it could be moved to the upper mount to hold the lot in place.

One old trick I was shown was to tug the seat belt to lock the inertia part and then wind the seat back up to push you into it.. Not sure if it works on more modern and sophisticated seat belts..
