I do like a Chris Harris video, but...
Discussion
I wish he'd review a few affordable 'Pistonhead' cars.
For example, there always seems to be a car or cars of the moment with a number of threads running. It's seems the original 986 Porsche Boxster is attracting a lot of interest just lately.
A Harris review of something like this would be a welcome change from the 80k+ exotica that's usually seen pictured going sideways on the home page.
Similar situation with the Peugeot 205 GTI, E36 M3, Elise S1, S2000, TVR S etc etc, you can see where I'm going with this. I'd say these are the types of cars the majority of us seek out and purchase.
It just seems a little unbalanced? There's plenty of discussions within the forums about the older affordable metal but little to no video content.

Just find the date they were reviewed in autocar, evo, or what have you and buy the mag of ebay. For example, there always seems to be a car or cars of the moment with a number of threads running. It's seems the original 986 Porsche Boxster is attracting a lot of interest just lately.

All of those cars have been reviewed on EVOs site, you can get them for free from their archives. So there you go.
You cant expect him to review cars that have already been reviewed 10 years ago and have a massive amount of info on them already.
Why dont we just organise our own review video. Find a few PH'ers with the cars we want to see reviewed and get them at a track together, I'm no Harris but have some limited experience with film and written reviewing, a few go pro's and we are away...
Then you have the flip side, how do you pay for the track time? If you are Harris or us for that matter you need to be able to sell the video and associated articles to cover the costs and there is your pinch point, no one is interested in paying for a video like this! So your only option would be an open road review which wouldnt be as dramatic..

If you're in the fortunate position to be spending 20-30k on your next sports car you'll find plenty of reviews and advice. However, if you've got 2-3k you're at the mercy of forum hearsay and old reviews which, TBH, will only advise you what the car was like when it was new.
I'm sure there are far more people in the 2-3k window than there are with 20-30k.
So why can't we have a Harris review of a 986 Boxster or similar with 100k miles clocked up? How does it stack up after 15 years, is it worn smooth or will it compare with machinery worth 10x its value?
I think it would be a valid and welcome addition to the current video reviews.

Why don't we come up with a few car review ideas then? Might not be ground-breaking, i.e. best front-drivers, or £30k from 1993, £30k from 2003, £30k from today?
Let's be honest, part of the appeal is Harris' style, so going back and reading a mag isn't going to do it for most in the 21st century, but right here we've got a pile of owners with interesting metal that would probably be lent and no agenda.
Off the top of my head:
Iconic Hatchbacks
Cheap, fun drophead motoring (one day a year)
Rallying on the road - the homologation cars

The MX5 piece was contrived as he said he didnt like them, the M5 is his own and pretty valuable, the Clio is still 20k plus and brand new, I am thinking like Top Gear but without "Hillariously" bumping into someone elses car and then dropping a skip on it.
Other than those it is 100k plus metal wreathed in tyre smoke.
Perhaps we need someone not used to expensive cars doing that end of the market as surely it must turn you into a sort of motoring equivalent of the late Michael Winner on food ?

Yes - but then he's probably not massively interested in a Mk5 and Mk 6 Golf and an Integra.
Bet you he would be. The guy truely loves driving, cars, motoring any chance to drive anything, I would think he's probably up for. That's the impression I've always got anyway, which is why I enjoy his stuff so much.I would like to see the late Michael Winner driving a supercar, crashing it into his wife's new car, flopping out onto the road and saying, "good luck getting your insurance to pay out over this," before dragging his corpulent, undead body back into his superhearse and speeding off into the distance.
It's not even a slow day I'm just feeling very frustrated.
