Mixers (kenwood/kitchenaid)

Thinking of getting a kenwood chef major (kmc020). Before I take the plunge was wondering if anyone had any strong negative opinions of these? I did originally think about a kitchenaid but reviews seem to indicate that they are more show / less go than the kenwood.

Also if anyone had any ideas on where to buy these / if they ever hit low sale prices that would be useful too!

Name and shame rule friendly answer:

Having had both and experienced customer service from both companies, I now have a Kenwood.

As for buying one - Currys is going to be as cheap as anywhere.

my mum's kenwood is 30+ years old and the only things we've replaced are the rubber rings in the blender attachment.

its used regularly and is almost my favourite kitchen appliance (second to the kettle!)

Can't comment on KitchenAid, but Mrs C&C has a Kenwood Chef Major (Professional version) and is more than happy with it, along with a whole bunch of attachments.
Whilst it's not cheap, it does have apparently all metal drive gears and seems pretty well built.
I think it was on special from the kitchen supplies place, Nisbets. Currently available for £400 it seems (ex VAT)

Mrs LA has a kMix Stand mixer and is very happy with it. Looks a lot like the kitchenAid one, but a bit cheaper.
