chim still not starting,i suspect a ignition issue.I can get aspark at high tension lead, if i arc on the block, although it is not a strong blue one like i would expect
I have fitted new dizzy cap +rotor ,but still no spark at plugs.ihave narrowed down to high tension lead breaking down, or ignition module not letting the coil do its job .Be obliged for any other suggestions

thanks Dave

Hi Dave,
As you have changed the dizzy cap did you ensure that you put the leads back on in the correct order? Best way to that is take each lead off one at a time so you don't mix them up.
Where did you buy your cap from as there are well known issues with some poor quality rotor arms and dizzy caps.
You should get a nice big long spark which should easily jump an inch or so from the king lead to the block.
If you get that then pull a plug and see what sort of spark you get at the plug. If the plug spark is poor then suspect the rotor arm or cap. If the plug spark is good then check your timing and that you have the plug leads on in the right order.
Next check you have fuel (wet plugs)and your fuel pump is running for a second or two when the ignition is turned on. You can check your fuel pressure and the fact that you are getting fuel by removing the little dust cap on the fuel rail (looks like a bicycle tyre valve) and pressing the pin in on the valve and fuel should spray out. Make sure you have a rag to catch the high pressure fuel coming out.
After that and if you have fuel, spark and the spark at the right time the only other thing to check is that you don't have a blockage in you air inlet side.
Also bare in mind that these engines flood very easily so make sure your plugs are clean and and in good order.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Paul.

Hi Dave, Do you have plug extenders, if so remove them and put the HT leads back on and try it, if it starts etc then you know, plus it eliminates them from the equation.
