Was getting the car ready for a day out and the garage found these.
The car had a major service last June, has only done 1000 dry miles and is garaged. How long does it take for the coil packs to get into that state?

Pretty sure Coilpacks aren't part of a servicing schedule (although they should be) so unless you specified new coils they could be a lot older than you think

While my car was having the Tyre Pressure Monitor batteries replaced, the OPC upgraded the coils to the "EM10" version (under warranty) - apparently there is a recall as the old versions can crack?

Don't know if this is an help?

They look MUCH older than 1000 miles.

My point is that a major involves spark plugs. You can't change the plugs without removing the coils so were they ok last year or A have the garage missed the coils or B did they actually do the plugs.
Personally I don't see how they could have degraded that badly in a year, especially in the environment they were in.
I would rather have some experience based opinion on this before I approach the garage..

How many miles has your car done in total? Those coilpacks look original to me. Unless you were complaining of a misfire, the garage would not bother to change them when changing plugs as they will still perform ok even when corroded ,until they develop cracking.Last time I fitted them on my C4S they cost approx. £35 each so £210 a set.

Almost bang on the money. Yeah misfire at high rpm. Funny thing is they were keen to advise me on the tyres and the fact the waxoyle needed doing and neglected to even mention that the coils and actuators were ronnied.
Car has done 31K.
