What am I doing wrong? The advert has been up on PH for one week with only one call (which happened to be a possible hoax). Is £6,500 too much for this car? If so, what price would you suggest instead? Or could I improve my advert? Should I also try ebay and autotrader?

Thanks in advance

Belfry.

Looks ok to me, and in good order. How far above the WBAC price are you? This is basically trade and a good indication of how much "premium" you hope to get via a private sale.

Hi,

Yes, it's way over priced!

It's worth £3000.

Try to say more about the car and cut out the guff about you.

People want to see it has air (which you mention) and aren't there some pipes that give way on these? Run through other spec and history and that should do it.

Big cars are a bit slow to sell and the Cayenne season is not currently here.

A lot of car for that money.
More about the history of the car needed. Last service? Etc

I think as said above some more details re service record and what has been replaced recently so people can get an idea if there are any obviously costly bills on their way.

If it wasn't for the fact I already have two cars, one of which doesn't exactly do a lot of miles, I'd be tempted as I covet a Cayenne and at that price even with silly fuel consumption its tempting. I'm sure insurance would sting me without any NCB to apply against it

I am currently looking for a family 4x4, things that have stopped me calling you are that it is in Belgravia and only available for viewing on week days, which is impossible with my job. I am also not clear whether it was a new, recon or 2nd hand engine. There are 2 other similar cars on PH for similar money so it is certainly not overly cheap.
Good luck with your sale, pm me if you need a quick sale and are willing to take a lower price.

It's not a great ad. Not very relevant personal stuff and little detail about the car/history.

Added to that, those are pretty much the most unattractive wheels you can get on the Cayenne, and I'm sure that would put off some potential buyers.

It's not the best ad' in the world, but how much should you need to shift a car like that for £6,000?

I think the problem, more likely is that the guy or gal with £6k to spend on a car will be terrified by Cayenne bills and sub 20 to the gallon. Not sure what you do about that, other than to target someone like yourself for a sale - i.e someone with other cars looking for a cheap, but stylish, workhorse. If I didn't already have two 4x4's I'd have it myself.

Basically down to the ad itself...if this ad was on Gumtree I would think 'scam'...

I think you have to explain a bit more about the engine change that you mentioned in your advert. I do not think there is anything specifically wrong with your advert but the market is the way it is. I tried to sell privately 1 year ago my wife's 2004 BMW 5 series (petrol and big engine) with only 40k miles for £6k and it was a big challenge. I ended up selling it to a Lexus dealership in part exchange for a Lexus Hybrid. I think in your case you should do the same, sell it in part exchange to Porsche.

I'd agree with that. Most of the cars I buy are sub 10k (I love cars but would only spend more on something special) and I was thinking before holy heck that's a huge amount of car for 6k but then I thought at that age/millage I'm sure the car can generate bills worth more than the car (I could be wrong) but either way the maintenance/running costs I'm sure could be horrific in relation to the cars value.

Still I'm sure someone would be willing to take a chance!

Good luck,
Lee.
