On a FHC e type, what thread are the screws that hold the rear tailgate onto the hinges?

Parts book says 1/4 UNF however that seems too small, 5/16UNF wont go in.

UNC?

BSW or BSF?

BA?

5/16 unf x 4. BTW if you want a faster response to stuff like this, have a look at the E Type UK forum. (probably too specific here ;-)

Thanks, but as I said in the original post, its not 5/16UNF, they go in about 3/4 of a turn then stop, its a different pitch. Looks like BSF.

sounds like someone has either re-tapped the thread or replaced the captive nuts. Originally they would have been 5/16th. All I can suggest is that you check there is no paint or corrosion (if there is, run a tap carefully down the nut (you are looking to clean it rather than re-cut).

Failing that, see if you can match the thread (metric?)

The ONLY E Type forum worth using is Jaglovers. Lots of very switched on and hands onnE Type enthusiasts.
