Got a leak on the drivers side, seems to be coming from the rubber flap next to the mudguard next to the right front wheel. Does that make sense?

Seems like it's water. Could it be the radiator? No apparent smell and seems to be water.

No warnings on the dash.

Help appreciated. It's a 997 1st gen.

Is it coolant? Rainwater? Have you just washed the car? Did you use the windscreen washers before parking up?

If you are not sure, check the coolant reservoir. Look at the level when the car is cold. Check the level again the next time the car is cold and in the same location. Do it a few times to make sure. There should be no real loss. If there is no loss it's not coolant.

It could be drainage from the rain water water outlet in the front scuttle. There is a rubber bung that sometimes gets blocked with leaves, although this is normally an autumn problem.

In the engine compartment. Left hand side, next to the air duct. Usually pink stuff.

I've been told its the air con draining. Driving without air con to test said theory!

When mine leaked there is was a rad, my aircon drops liquid more towards the middle of the car - the rad leak was directly in front of the drivers front wheel.
Put some white tissue in it and see if it turns pinkish.

If you've got Zenons you've got headlamp washers, and I had a similar problem on my 997 which I thought was coolant but I ruled that out easily enough (the smell is the big giveaway, there's no way you'd mistake it for washer fluid and the expansion tank level never dropped) - the leak kept coming and my OPC said it was probably a failed seal in the offside headlamp washer.
I thought I'd put up with it until the service was due, then one day I used the headlamp washer button on the wiper stalk on a particularly grotty day, and hey presto, no more leak on garage floor. It's been fine since smile
