Over the winter I thought I (with the help of a mate) sort a few little electrical issues that awere bothering me. I own a Mk1 1.8 auto Eunos.
The main things I wanted to sort, were that some of the interior lights weren't working and also fit a new stereo.

The lights that weren't working were the ones for the heater controls and also the ones that light illuminate the gearbox selector and also the bulb that goes into the centre armrest. After a fair bit of investigation it seemed that the issue was due to (what seemed) a bodged fitting behind the fog light switch. After a bit of fiddling with the wires we got everything to work....as in all lights were working.
Unfortunately we were both in a rush and so never tried to restart the car at this point. A day or so later, when I was putting everything back together, I tried to start the car and it wouldn't start. The engine fires up but instead of settling to idle, it just dies. We've tried putting the wiring back to normal/how it was, but no joy.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me please? Car is now sat/stuck in my garage and not working....which is really hacking me off!

Does the engine keep running if you have your foot on the throttle pedal?

That sounds like an immobiliser issue. Do you know if one is fitted?

Vlad - no, it still cuts out. It might rev slightly higher but still cuts out as quickly.

Lazza - That's what I thought (as it does have one fitted) but if I take the immobiliser fob off the keyring, it won't turn over at all!?

The car is now at a garage...however they're stumped too, as it still has the same issues.

I've been advised to get an new ECU, but can anyone point me in the right direction of a 1993 Eunos 1.8 auto ECU?

Also, can anyone explain how the fact that my car won't start and the switches for the hazards and headlight switch, won't work? Headlights are currently, permanently in the up/raised position.

The current thinking is that if the ECU option doesn't work, it'll be uneconomic to fix....which I'm fairly gutted about!

Sounds to me like you have some wiring problems. Here's what I'd do.

1) Borrow another ECU and swap it to see if that is the problem. Are you in the owners club? If so someone local may let you borrow theirs.

2) Remove the immobiliser completely to see if that is the problem.

3) Take the dash apart and get the wiring sorted. There're wiring diagram on the 'net.
