Hi there,

I'm looking to buy a Boxster, and being new to Porsches, looking for some advice. I've been to see an 05/05 Boxster S, speed yellow, bose, colour satnav, new michelin cup sport tyres all round, and 27K miles, with service history(not all OPC). The seller is looking for £16995, and wont budge on this. Is this a fair price do you think? Car is very tidy, and will be coming with a years warranty.

Any thoughts welcome

Cup tyres !

But yes a bit expensive for a 05, don't think I would pay more than14k

£17k seems very expensive.

Need to see the full spec, Boxsters should have heated seats, and I see it has the 'colour' sat nav, not the old 'black & white' one wink. If I was paying a premium for a Boxster I'd be looking for a high spec 3.4S, Full OPC history, and the Extended Porsche Warranty.

Im selling similar 05 Boxster S. 40k - £12,500.

That seems pricey

I thought it was a bit steep. It has a pretty good spec, but no heated seats which I would have liked. Also, is the 987 as prone to IMS/RMS problems as the 986? THe car is actually for my wife, and she particularly wants a yellow one, but we are in no huge rush to buy so I will shop around a bit more, especially if no movement on the price of this one. It is local though so would save trailing around the country

Just sold my 04 Boxster S for £10k a good price but did include a hard top and another set of wheels. Glasses guide price £8250.
IMHO far too high a price. A friend of mine paid that for one two years ago.

Probably, I think 987 started on 54 plate.

Four and a half years ago we too were looking for a speed yellow 987. I found a fully-specced up 2005 987 Boxster S for £21,000 with 10,000 miles - but our thoughts changed and I bought a 996. This does suggest though that your seller is asking a lot now as people have said.

We then bought a cheaper yellow 987 (not an S) which my wife has been using. It's now for sale on PH if you're interested - to be fair it's lower spec than your one and higher miles - but we're only asking £10k-ish for it!

Sounds ok for the 'right' car. Is there a link, I'm looking at the moment!

Decided to leave it for a few days to see if the price drops. I can't justify paying so much over the odds for the car compared to others I've seen. It is almost the exact spec the wife was looking for apart from the heated seats, but the seller seems intent on getting the asking price.
