I want to say a big public thank you to Nick Day at Willow Sports cars in Newark. He’s just completed a 12,000 mile service on my Chimaera, fitted a Clive Ford Y piece, waxoiled the chassis, changed the manifold gaskets and several other items. I’m not going to go into cost other than to say very reasonable, good value and he now has my business going forward.

Here’s the thing I can’t explain but I’m sure you guys will know what I’m saying; just felt like she had been lovingly serviced and was all the better for it; engine was quieter (less mechanical sounding) but unmistakably a V8, a little deeper due to the new Y piece but not intrusive (I left the pre-cats in, I know Clive, I know but I’ll get some stainless steel decat manifold pipes and know I can always go back to an original set up, don’t know why I would though! While on the subject, Clive stainless manifolds have got to find their way onto the group buy sooooooon).

Anyway, credit where credit is due, if you want a good honest service, value for money from a guy who knows what he is talking about then Nick is worth talking to.

We should meet up sometime soon, compare engines.
I did take out the precats when I had the Y piece fitted.
I live two miles from Willow. I agree that Nick's a nice guy. He dropped everything, sorted out some bits and fitted them for me when I had a brake problem, and had to be forced to accept any sort of payment.

I'm up for that. You might just see me on the A46 around Newark at about 7:15pm this evening

Thanks macca and that was both fun and informative.

Your car is awesome - immaculate and in one of the best colour combos I have seen.
Nice to meet you and your son. I feel sure we have met before, though I cannot place where. Did you Thunder in the Tunnels in April by any chance?

And it was lovely to compare our 30-70 whistletimes on the A46.

We are definitely agreed that owning a Clive Y piece and running the closed loop ECU (standard catted resistor with lambda sensors in) gives one an unexpected "feature" - stalling several times when hot starting!!
If I can find a fix I will let you know.

Nice to meet up. Don't think we've met before, not done thunder in the tunnels.
Maybe Clive will have some answers about the stalling. Symptoms are;

Quick stop, it stalled. No problem restarting straight away but stalled a second time, so had to keep a little throttle on. Was worried that it would stall the next time I stopped at an island but it didn't.

Couple of times, reversing off drive, very low revs, move into first and stall.

No issues of this type before the y piece fitted, just had a 12k service.

Other than those couple of incidents it runs very well indeed.

My symptoms exactly. It stalls only when people are watching, in just those circs.
