Dear PH'ers ,
I've got tickets for next Sunday's Springsteen concert at the Olympic Park. I'll be travelling from Manchester. There are no car parks at Stratford and the best option seems to be coach travel. Are there any alternatives, such as driving to the outer London area and catching a train, park and ride etc ? Any other PH'ers with the the same problem ? Any advice gratefully received !

You could drive down, and park outside london and get a train in.
As an example you could drive to essex and park at somewhere like basildon or billericay and get on either of these train lines direct to stratford, if you wanted. But you've got a fair drive down, then cost of fuel, and the train in and out of london.
I was working in manchester a couple of years back, and needed to get home to basildon for a wedding. Searched abit online, (thetrainline.com) I think, and got a cracking deal booking the journey as 2 single 1 way trips, as opposed to a return trip to manchester. Times and days travelled Made a difference on price, but after some tweaking got a cracking deal.
I drive for a living, and have to admit was really impressed with the hassle free train journey, plus if you do it this way, you can relax and have a drink if you want.
It would be a nice simple train journey into london, think it took 2 and a quarter hours and then just jump on the tube to stratford.

If it were me, I'd look into parking at Westfield Stratford. Appears to be only £5 for 24hrs which seems almost too good to be true. I haven't done it myself in Stratford but I often park at Westfield Shephards Bush when going into London for gigs. It's well lit, it's secure and they often seem to be running discounts.
