Focus (2011 on) - Disabling alam
Discussion
Forgive me if I'm just Google-challenged today.
I'm going on a ferry crossing next week and have to disable my alarm for obvious reasons. The only thing - I don't know how!
The owner's manual states that the alarm is armed just by locking the car, and the only difference described between locking and double locking is that the car can't be opened from the inside.
The closest suggestion I can find online is perhaps locking using the key and not the fob, but nothing in the manual for that. Without trying it out and annoying the neighbours if it doesn't work, can anyone confirm if this does the job or not?
I know I have the option of setting the alarm to Reduced Guard but don't know if that would do the job or not.

On my previous car (not a Ford) motion was disabled by following:-
1/ With the driver's door closed and the ignition on, turn the ignition off and remove the key.
2/ Exit the car via the front passenger door (don't open the driver's door).
3/ Close the passenger door and lock the car in the normal way with the remote key.
As I recall and according to the handbook, pressing two buttons adjacent to the interior light for ten seconds would also do the trick. It never seemed to work for me, but the above procedure with the passenger door worked without fail. I haven't tried it on my current car, but perhaps Fords are similar.
