Hi all, this is a my first car thread. I decided i wanted a honda civic becuase i have always had a soft spot for them, especially the EG shape mainly because of the front. For the sum of 500 squid i got myself this 1992 Honda civic with a recent MOT, part honda service history and I am chuffed to bits.

On the actual car itself, nothing is broken, even the electric sunroof is working. There is genuinly nothing wrong with this little car and i couldnt resist the bargain. The only downside is that it has 121000 miles, but with the condition of the car so clean i had to get it. here are some pictures of the car.

Now that I have got it, I have upgraded the speakers for newer, better ones, pioneer head unit, skunk2 gear knob. I am currently looking at some alloys at the moment (HELP NEEDED) i have options of black or bronze wheels. Anyone have opinions of the Calibre Pro 7 wheels or the Rota Torque wheels. I am also torn between choosing 15 inch or 16 inch wheels. Any help on some nice, clean modifications would be appreciated. I do want to modify the car, but i want it to look clean so chav stuff here.

Quality first car, bargain as well! Lower it and stick on some 15's, Rita boost in white would look great. Check out Honda forums for further help, civic life has some helpful members, Crx uk is great and the wheels for sale will fit your car I believe smile

Enjoy!

Nice choice on the EG, you'll be able to get a great little car with a few choice mods.

As said check Civiclife.net, also ek9.org, dc2-itr for inspiration and parts that are interchangeable between these different chassis.

I have owned an Del Sol which is the same chassis as yours. Although it is a bit more showoffy they are relatively the same.

On the above car I had both 15 and 17 inch wheels. The 15s were far more superior acceleration and handling wise. If you get a good set of tires on some, B-road blasts will be extremely fun.

I would also look into coilovers, meister r are very good and what I used to have. They are mid range in price and are based in Britain so are easily contactable. Also brakes, I had a set of Honda Legend twin pots which are very similar to the NSX items. These were excellent and I would highly recommend them. They are not badly priced either (second hand)

Have fun with it!

Bearing in mind my limited funds, i was looking at springs for the the moment, particularly these (http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Honda_Civic_1.5_1992/p/performance-and-styling/performance-suspension-parts/suspension2/performance-lowering-springs/?1&pl5_102#) as opposed to coilovers, or would you reccomend just getting the coilovers

Yea they look good! What you could look at too, which are well priced, Integra Type R suspension (DC2) These will fit your car if you also buy the rear lower control arms from a teg. And will improve the handling but not lower it a great amount. Then add lowering springs over time.

Seeing younger people buying older cars; potentially ones older than themselves restores my faith in humanity!

I had a 92 LSi as my first car in 2007, kept and tinkered with it for six years. Swapped it for a sorted MX5, but deep down i'd give anything to have my EG back! Threw half the Honda parts bin at it and made a terrific track car.

2007 - Looking back this was dreadful; but it was the 'in' stuff to do to a civic at the time.

2011/12 - Essentially lived on track after buying an EP3 for daily duties.

IMHO as it's your first car, don't fk about with it, you'll ruin it.

Drive it and enjoy it.

Is it an VEi, LSi or ESi?

COuldn't disagree with that last comment more. Do mess about with it! I have had 2 of these. An LSi and a VTi. I really like Rota Boost on these cars. Slip streams also look good. Also 16" is my size of choice, most people say 15" though.

Very nice, does this have one of the proper VTEC engines in it? If yes, you'll probably want to be getting a one of these, commonly known as the "Carbon fibre whale penis", made by Password JDM or Tegiwa:

Along with a decent exhaust. Some nicer wheels would not go amiss, but don't get carried away and end up with a barried stbox like this

It always seems such a tragedy to see nice Civics go this way.

^^ This! There are too many chavvy Civics on the road already with fart can exhausts and fake xenons.

Nice car. I really wanted an EG Civic as my first car, but they were too expensive at the time (1997) so I bought a Rover 200 instead.

Judging by the alloy wheels, I think this is an LSi.

I'll second LSi going by the redline on the rev counter (Ultra Geek!)

I kept my LSi dials in even after going to B16 on ITR cams with the 8900 rev limiter; it was hilarious watching non-car friends' faces as the car screamed it's head off and revved 2k rpm over the redline.

If you're planning on plittering with the car; raid other Honda's for bits, like bigger brakes from a prelude/mb6/legend, or hub swap from a 96 ITR complete with the wheels looks fantastic on a white EG. Think of Honda's before 2000 as grown up Lego, as most bits will fit any car.

It is an LSI, would have been nice to have the vtec but i'm not too fussed, its the shape that i love. I don't want to go anywhere near the chavvy stuff. I want tasteful modifications. I've been driving it a lot recently and It's very characterful, but hasn't missed a beat so far, so for £500 i'm over the moon
