A what thread but not cars this time - welders!
Can anyone help recommend me a MIG welder please?
I have been hobby/DIY welding on my projects for the last 4/5 years with a Sealey 150 Turbo MIG, but single roller wire feed, small throw away bottles and general wear now are annoying me and with the need for a lot more welding on my latest project I'm looking to upgrade it.
I'm thinking of trying to get a bit more higher end DIY/semi-pro/garage use sized, say still 150-200 amp but that'll take a decent size gas bottle, higher end controls and internal components but not a break the bank industrial welder. Having a quick Google search I'm liking the look of the Oxford 200, trying to stay away for jumping straight onto (the fairly biased) machine mart websites etc.
Has anyone seen a good buyers guide or invested in a good welder they could recommend me please?
Having gone back to British 'metal' (or what's left of it) after a dry state VW I fear it's time to retire my little Sealey before it goes pop.

Have a word with Weldequip - dead helpful and loads of experience with what works/lasts/doesn't. We bought my lad a GYS Smartmig 162 from them and it does everything we asked them for. Good on thin plate, but enough power for bigger jobs. Runs gas or gasless and take refillable bottles.
Have a look around www.mig-welding.co.uk for opinions on these things. Another vote for Weldequip though I've only had parts from there, not an actual welder. I've recently been using rent-free gas from a local supplier, that's a good way to get a decent bottle without paying BOC rental.
