No Police seen on the drive to and from Le Mans
Discussion
This was my 6th Le Mans on the bounce, and this year, there were no Speed Traps or Police presence seen.
Down on the 7.36am Shuttle on Thursday, and back last night, leaving directly after the race.
A first for us, as we always see something.
The only stop we saw, was nearer to Calais, where a Silver Tiguan was passing us at an estimated 100mph+ as we were bang on 80mph, and had been from the toll. He was stopped at the parking, just after the toll being spoken to by the Police. I assume he was being talked to about the speed.

On the way back there were 2 police in camo on the side of the A28 shortly after joining it from the A29 diversion round Rouen. There was a police bike and car at that point also but hidden in a engineering layby beside them. Further on there was also a policeman on one of the bridges, didnt see the car or bikes to support him. There were also a lot of police in a car park just before crossing the Pont de Brotonne although not sure what they were doing.
I left the circuit just after race end, and was up at Calais to catch the 21.45 ferry to give a clue as to when they were out.
Didnt see any on the way out on Wednesday.

Exactly what Chris said. Didn't see any on way down weds either. Almost every brit I saw was being pretty sensible, I had the cruise bang on 130k most seemed to be doing the same. A french registered TVR (must be rare eh!) and french reg Elise passed me going a fair pace but I guess the french reg plate makes them a secondary target at best.
ETA: on a separate note, what is it with people 'spectating' on bridges almost all the way back?? Windy and heavy showers, I wouldn't stand on an autoroute bridge for ages just for a glimpse of the odd ferrari myself. Strange people!

Drove down on Thursday via Yvetot to avoid Rouen road works, police stopping cars on a roundabout heading out of Yvetot, waved at us and made slow down gestures but we were only doing 30mph so guess just a warning.
Came back after the race on Sunday and for the first time in years didn't see one police car or speed trap!

We thought this too - came down via Yvetot on Thursday morning and back the same way 5pm Sunday. Didn't see anyone pulled at any point, nor any lurking Gendarmes, but then I was doing 130kph so I wasn't really bothering to look. I agree that almost every single British car I saw was driven very sensibly, and on the péages down we were at least half the traffic!
And we arrived so early for our 0143 tunnel back, we got on the 2245 and were in bed by the previously booked time

I concur with the general lack of police but I did spot two blokes in camo gear hiding in the bushes on the verge of a motorway bridge aiming long black things at the passing cars.
Anybody else see them?
That Tiguan also passed me at well over a ton.
There were them, then two police uniform on one of the bridges just before the last toll section past Rouen, plus two remote tripod units, one just outside Le Mans, one near Calais.Anybody else see them?

They are certainly getting sneakier year by year.

We were pulled over on the way down for a document check only. We're told to drive slowly and moved on
No police on the route back to Cherbourg. All the Brits were driving slowly so the last five years has drummed
Into us to slow down and avoid the fines. So it has worked. Still had fun where we could
Great weekend.
