I've just received my GTR Build manual and while trying to learn it word for word before tke kit turns up I noticed that there seems to be 2 options for the wishbone setup.

The options are either Urethane or Rose Jointed, which one of these comes as standard with the car?

I've not been offered a choice hence why I'm unsure.

Anyone here know?

my can-am came with red urethane bushes as standard, there seems to be some gray replacements available that are better than the red ones, don't they use the rose joints for track only

When I ordered mine in 2002, the grey Nylatron were listed as option. I got sets of both Nylatron and red urethane. Fitted urethane ones, wore them out in lower rear wishbone in no time and have since changed to grey Nylatron which seem fine. Got to avoid any play in rear suspension as this is Not a Good Thing.
I don't see Nylatron listed as option in latest price list, perhaps factory have changed spec on std ones. Best give them a call to check options available to you. As Tuxman says, rose joints are for track, special order I think.

Thanks guys.

Why aren't all the options/extras etc listed upfront?

This seems really strange to me but surely it's better to show/offer everything upfront.

I just got back from 200 miles a Watkins Glen in the USA. The car has a total of 400 miles on it and the rear lower bushing looks like its been through a war.
I am going to investigate changing to rose joints.

It's my intention to do lots of track work, so how much of a job is it changing to rose-jointed setup?

When I first got the car I spoke with Ted and he said that the factory do not recommend running slicks unless you have rose-jointed suspension.

As you may gather...I didn't build my car

I spoke to the factory about this and their take on the matter was that the rose jointed suspension was much noisier than the urethane bushes so for road use they were pushing me towards the latter. Obviously for the trackday warriors then rose joints are the way to go. Wear rate on the new grey bushes seems much better as I munched the red ones in no time at all.

I share Michael Clarks view that the parts/option list should include ALL current options. I thought I was selecting from the full set of build options when I ordered but I wasn't. Much better to have the complete list than the "ask us at the factory and we will tell you if we have it" method.

Well for those of you interested I just spoke with the factory, and to change from standard setup to rose-jointed would be around £3k in parts and approximately 8 hours of labour (if the factory did the job).

Ouch but I'm still thinking about it

Alan.

Jack,
what do you use?
Delrin?
Oilite?

There must be an engineering plastic that will do a better job than eurathane surely?

If anyone wanted any making from a specific material I could do this easily.

The Delrin bushings we supply see up to the task. Over 8000 miles on mine, and all is well.

The easiest way is to jack up rearend so it's off the ground. Apply e-brake. Put a long handled lug nut wrench on one of the wheel nuts, and pull up as if to tighten the nut in a lifting direction. If there's play, you'll feel the suspension move. If you have the red bushings, you'll feel the play. Guaranteed!!

I've heard from builders who have installed the new bushings, that they forgot how well the car will handle. They just slowly got used to the car starting to wander all over the road, and began thinking that was normal.

just as likelly to be suspension set up... but the red bushes on mine seemed to go every 1000miles on the back even if it was just road use.
