Nurburgring Advice - Non Motoring!

ok, the wife and 3 kids are heading to the ring this weekend. Am ging to rent a car on sunday morning for a few laps but what the hell is there to do round there on the saturday! been looking online and it all lokos well a bit rubbish! weve got the friday afternoon and all day saturday to have some family fun. any ideas please?

mountain biking
trip to Cochem (circa 20kms away)
horse riding

I think there is a tourist information point in Adenau. I'm pretty sure they'll speak good English, why not give them a call?

I'd go to Cologne - not exactly 'near', but not 'far' either...

There's not much to do.

The rodelbahn (suitable for big kids as well!) nr Alternahr is good. Could be combined with a shopping / sightseeing trip to Köln.

Cochem, as mentioned, is a nice tourist place. Boat trip recommended.

Bad Neuenahr is a picturesque Spa town not far away.

Whats the old town/city on the river called just N/E of there?, thats a lovely touristy place thats not far away. Theres a fun park too with the roller taboggan luge run ideal for kids & adults!!!

Didn't rent a car in the end, decided to hustle the disco round!!

I know, but plans change when you've got three kids in toe. My 2 year old was asleep for his first lap of the ring in the back of the car too.

And a 5 yr old and my 9 yr old is registered disabled, they loved it.
My wife said I drive more erratically on the road than I did on the ring.
Think I hit 70 on the back straight too! And the rest I reckon at about 50 in some parts. Crazy
