I've been to Goodwood for track days a few times over the years but have pretty much stopped going now.

The track is okay and the people there are always pleasant, apart from one marshal who hates anyone touching his precious grass, but.......the plan for the day (only 5 cars out for 15 minutes then the next lot of 5 go out) is a horrible idea. If the day is booked up you only get to go out about 4 times throughout the whole day!

The cars that attend are always nice and interesting, the owners are fantastic, the paddock and pits are great and the airfield next door provides some entertainment when you are waiting to push your car along the queue every 15 minutes. But the truth of the matter is there are better tracks with better set ups and are cheaper to attend.

If it was open pit-lane i'd argue it to be one of the best days out. But you go there to drive and enjoy your car, not push it down a queue.

After 18 months since my last visit, I had forgotten that you spend the entire day queuing.

Very tedious. I have the track sussed now so probably won't bother going again as it was so frustrating waiting the whole time just to go out for 15 minutes.

Back to Coombe, Bedford and Rockingham I think.

Oulton and Cadwell are terrific circuits which operate very efficiently. Goodwood was a challenge yesterday with just enough track time available for single drivers. But experience of driving this classic and fast circuit made the day worthwhile...thumbup

Done Cadwell once years ago in my Impreza P1. It was amazing.

Goodwood is great fun, my Noble really was enjoying it by the end but the constant queuing is a bit tiresome. Doesn't feel as relaxed as some days out. But the circuit is well worth it.

I did Goodwood for the first time yesterday, only managed 5 laps in the morning but it thinned out in the afternoon and got plenty of track time, loved the circuit, really suited my car with the fast sweeping corners and the big stop at the end of the main straight.

Would I go back, probably not, the noise restrictions mean they have to keep the average down so have to limit the numbers of cars on track very strictly. I was on a privately booked event with less than 30 cars booked and it was still over an hour wait to get your 15 mins on track each time. I was very resticted on when I could get out as I was just over the noise limit so in the morning I couldn't get out at all really but they got more leanient as the day went on and showed me where the noise meters were so by lifting and moving away from them I was OK in the afternoon.

I found the marshalls very helpfull and friendly, they actively helped me to get round the noise problems, I was only 1dB over on the drive by so they were as frustrated as I was that I was not out there enjoying a great circuit. They couldn't however help a friend of mine who just couldn't get his car quiet enough despite spending the whole morning re packing his exhaust, 94 on the static test but 105dB on the drive by so we just had to share cars for him to get a drive.

As said I probably won't go back, only because of the noise regs imposed on teh circuit, loved the track, marshalls great, noise regs imposed by the council make it a very expensive day for very little time on track.
