Toast. In celebration of the grilled bread.

Oh it is a wondrous thing, that slice of bread so warm and inviting.
On days cold and damp, on days when diner is answered with a 'can't be bothered', it is the joy of simple bread that turns apathy and malaise into homely satisfaction. The contentment born of hot grilled bread, dripping with warm salted butter and a delicious topping, is food to rejuvinate and warm the soul. It is the comfort food of comfort foods, the master, the old pro.
The hand turned dusted loaf; white or brown, spelt, or barley, rye or seeded, in batch or farmhouse, round or roll, is the food to make life better.
I sit here upon my sofa with my barleycorn loaf'd slice dripping melted butter and home made marmalade and for a few precious moments the world can go hang. So here's to you you toasted bread, a toast in finest breakfast tea, from those who love your crusted wonderments. May you always be around and in our lives, that us who take delight in your complex flavors and satisfaction, can relax, smile and for a moment, sample the simple pleasures of a simpler life.
Ladies and gentlemen,be upstanding for our noble guest, the humble loaf of bread.
Cheers

So true. I am a lover of most kinds of food, I have eaten (and enjoyed)more than my fair share of take-away filth, plus my fair share of nice to exquisite food, either home-made or from restaurants but, undoubtedly one of my favourites is home baked toasted whole meal bread, loads of butter and a scant coating of marmite! Heaven!!!

tty 50p white loaf best butter and Robinsons golden shred marmalade yum!My parents were healthos, and white bread, butter, marmalade etc were verboten at home.
God love the British bucket and spade seaside holiday in a cheap B&B, where plebian Mother's Pride white bread and Anchor butter were the order of the day.
I'll take cheap white bread, toasted and left to go cold and chewy, with psychedelic yellow butter above any posher offerings.
I was with you initially but then this popped up:
