Fuel Pressure Regulator

Has anyone encountered a Fuel Pressure Regulator on a 2.9 TVR S3 failing?
No, but if you have the "pressed steel" fuel manifold (rather than the cast alluminium one) I have a spare secondhand one you could try if you have doubts about yours.Just a thought, have you tried pressing the little valve (like a tyre valve) on the manifold with the ignition on, there should be fuel pressure there?
Guys, thanks for the swift replies.
Just got the car back on the road again having done a 2yr chassis refurb (no engine tinkering) and now symptoms have been difficult to start when cold (disconnected air temp sensor and changed plugs, started fine for MoT) but then same issues re-occurred. Tweaked airflow meters to enrich mix as MoT showed very lean. The when fully warm, after 30mins at 75mph on A31, engine just stalled and refused to start. An hour later having been low loaded to Poole, damn thing then started. Purring for run home but having sat in garage at home for 36hrs now won't start again. Unable to detect fuel on the spark plug I've just pulled but fuel is being supplied to the rail under plenum. Repeated attempts to start don't even result in a smell of petrol under the bonnet which I would have expected, hence the thoughts that reg might be intermittent. I cannot even hear a "ticking" sound from the injectors when the engine is being cranked over. Haven't checked the type of reg but is it on the rear end of the engine close to the return fuel pipe? Is there a sensor or other electrical connection that could have failed?

Not the fuel pressure reg at all - turned out to be the red relay in the loom by the fuse panel sticking. Bench testing showed it was functioning correctly but sticking when in the car - "tap" persuasion to shock it showed its true colours!
Thanks all for the suggestions, now just waiting on delivery of said item.

DOH! The sticking relay was not the real issue. Unless the new relay is duff! If 3 of the injectors are disconnected, the engine fires and runs albeit rough but it allows me to re-connect the injectors and the engine keeps running even on fast idle (not tested it under high load on a road test).
Any thoughts? I am returning to original belief that it is low fuel pressure on the rail - do fuel pumps get lazy? Could this still be the fuel pressure regulator not allowing sufficient pressure on initial start?
