Just mooching around really and thinking a head, why are CSR's available in kit form in the US and not in the UK, and also why is the 175 CSR EU4 not available in the UK?

I prefer the CSR to the SV, but 200 or 260 seems a little too much for a touring based 7. I know it's due for a refresh but not sure what they are doing with it, I'm still wondering why the chassis hasn't been revised for the S3 shape with the IRS & in board front sus, seemed like an obvious evolution to make 7 years ago.

As far as I'm aware, all sevens are sold in kit form without an engine in the USA as the engines don't reach the US emission regs and other safety regs.

Also similarly, the 2.3 Duratec doesn't pass the EU emmissions regs so they sell it with the 175 Duratec instead. They probably feel the CSR should have the 2.3 in the UK as it was always intended to.

Is there room for inboard suspension on the S3? It's pretty tight in there anyway, the S3 is all about keeping it light and simple, while the CSR is a more complicated chassis.

The S3 is iconic car and to change the design would be a risk. It still holds its own and has a huge following. IRS would add weight and make the set-up more complex, and that's not in the ethos of the 7 or 'adding lightness'. The same applies to inboard suspension, but if that is what you want, then there's the CSR, Atom, or Westfield!
