How would you spend £500
Discussion
Hi everyone. I'm new to the site and have enjoyed reading the threads.
I have just acquired a 2001 Chimaera 450 and I'm loving every second of it. My girlfriend is getting a bit pee'd off as I am spending more time with the car than her!
The car is original (unmodified) with pioneer stereo, standard exhaust etc. There are some stone chips and the hood and carpets are a little frayed here and there.
I was just interested in how others would start smartening things up given a budget of £500.

Welcome, I'm not Lucky to own one of those lovely beast's yet, but i would leave the Stone chips (unless really bad) as it's not gonna rust. As winter is coming I would spend the money on the Roof and if any left over which their should be, put it in the petrol tank and take the misses for a few blats

You can buy Thompsons waterproofing cheaply and brush it on the roof yourself. The exhaust mod just makes more noise, the power stays the same.
So that leaves you £490 for the aforementioned beer and servicing! And TVRCC membership, they provide meetings for you to spend the beer money.

and a big welcome to the asylum. £500 errm let me think!
Well if it doesn’t leak. Treat it anyway...so that's about £480 left ...
Sports exhaust, definitely.
Leven bits look great.
Membership to TVRCC.
Beware! You will find that spending money on it becomes easier and easier with time! OH

Hi morgola, the garage that did mine has a rolling road, they reckoned the difference was up to + / - 3 bhp but they couldn't predict which way it would go!
yep, i'm convinced. Just spoke to somebody at Thames Valley Racetech (they've got that 20% promotion on the conversion). will get it done.

you keeping her now then mate? did you dump the missus?
I have the exhaust conversion, sounds fantastic. Only a problem if you want to track the car...
Thanks everyone for all the responses.
The exhaust mod sounds like the thing to have and it will really wind up the neighbours with the porche boxters!!
I'll be seeing Richard Thorpe tomorrow and ask him what he can do.(Very nice chap; did a smashing job waxoiling for me last week)
The girlfriend stays. The car insurance was cheaper if I added her as a named driver oddly enough!
