I saw this advertised on the back of a bus this morning:

Their website said:

If you’re looking for some thrills and spills this winter check out the ice karting at the John Nike Leisuresport centre in Bristol.

The fun-packed sessions can be organised for parties of 10 people or more and include two races – one on a smooth surface, the other on a rough surface – and a buffet, all for just £30 per person.

“Ice karting has proved to be very popular with our corporate clients and for stag, hen and birthday parties,” said Chris Davidson from Bristol Ice Rink.

To arrange for you and your friends to have a spin on the ice call the centre on 0117 925 9736.

Does anyone fancy this?

I thought I remembered seeing it advertised on the side of the ice rink when I used to drive past there on the way to work a few years ago.

(Sorry for the hijack. Back to Bristol..... )

Might actually get some advantage from being 16 and a half stone doing this (added traction). Would make a refreshing change from being immediately blown into the weeds by skinny little blokes, which is what has happened every time I've been karting in the past!

This is a great evening out - the buffet is crap but the karting is ace. If we can get about 30 people together then I seem to remember we get about 2 hours time on the ice in 4 teams. It is an enduro format with pitstops etc. Track is an oval on the ice. It is possible to go all the way round on full opposite lock (even for a fat git like me) but that is not the quick way.....

Me and by better half are certainly up for it.

Great excuse for a curry afterwards too....

Oh - and bring a complete change of clothes - you will get very very wet!

Sorry about the delay, heres the rundown.

Thursday, Sat and sun nights.

£35 a head which includes buffet!? Min of 10 people.

10 people would get about an hour on the ice in teams of 3 / 4, You would run an endurance style race.

Max is 30 and the more people then the more time you get i.e 20 people get 2 hrs, 30 get 3.

Not many bookings at present between now and xmas.

More info from the helpful chap on 0117 929 2148 .

AFAIK that's fine for me, but I have been thinking...

How about linking it in with our Christmas curry mini meet. I'm sure we could persuade them to play "Winter wonderland" all evening
