Just got this in today. Looks really well made (in the USA) and lightweight.

Just reading through the instructions, which could be relevant also to Tru Trac diffs as well, is that you should use only standard oils with them and not LSD oils containing friction modifiers. These gear diffs do not wantthe extra slipperyness provided by FM's, they need to grip to perform. Wavetrac also advise you not to use any special "high pressure" oils containing solids which again are really designed to allow plate type diffs to slip.

Looking forward to building one of these up ito a diff shortly.

Have I got the first one of these into the UK for one of ours?

Probably have smile.

Very interested to hear your thoughts once you've got it fitted? Because I'm torn between one f these or a Kaaz.

Looks like regular torsen gears inside.

Ideal for a road car, fit and forget. Casing does indeed look very nice, certainly far better than the usual American crap with cast housings.

The torsen in mine will let a wheel go loose on tight corners. Really not a big deal though.

Let you know Em. Probably put one in the GTS because I've just done a brand new Trutrac for the Ute.

(Really looking forward to seeing how your new gearbox performs on Saturday?)

thumbup

Yup, it's seen 180 once, 170 a few times and 150 loads of times and does seem to pull well in 6th when you're pressing on smile. Just a shame I won't have my engine but there is always next year biggrin

Nice to see a wavetrack over here. They seem to be top of the affordable list before you get into more expensive options.
Im lucky the Camaro was the last year which had an OEM torsen in it, before they threw posi's in.

I see the new corvette has an electronic locker. Or at least "electronically controlled" diff, hopefully that doesnt mean the same crap as the XJ jag has which basically applies the brake to the spinning wheel. Ends up as a turd pile going nowhere in mud/snow/ice.
The 12C has the same setup with no LSD as the Jag, though obviously vastly improved. Doesn't seem to do it any harm.

On mine there is a T2R version which is supposed to address it too. Quaife's are also supposed to be pre-loaded to address it as well.

I dont think either of them really achieve it though.

But unless you're going hard on twisty circuits, you'll never notice it anyway.
The only time it's apparent on mine is sometimes on the short handling tract at TOTB, and recently at a very tight hillclimb.

I'd say your cars with an IRS would suffer less than mine with a live axle though.

Be nice to hear how good these are, Regal are saying they are a good upgrade from the Quaife i have in the focus but its a lot of money if its no differant!! they do a Kazz upgrade for mine but from previous experiance i dont want a plated diff as i dont think it suits fwd after very near miss with a crash barrier in a previous car was enough to forget that option!!

Also prefer the fit & forget nature of the atb's

They are relatively expensive. Over twice the price of a Tru trac. If they go as good as they look???

BTW. Didn't get mine from Regal, shipped them in direct.

I'm interested in the results. Like Emma I'm torn between it and a kaaz.

The wavetrac has a system which is supposed to look the diff to prevent one wheel spinning when unloaded

If it works as well as suggested its the best of both a plate diff (kazz)& torque biasing (trutrac)

you might want to watch the oils, if i recall the tru trac says the same and when i have the tru trac recommded oil put in my diff it did not lube the diff gears up right and started to ware them quickly, so had the standard diff oil put back in (well the royal purple stuff) and had no issues. and that was 1000's of miles a go..

It will allow a 70/30 split of power or another amount but when full loss on one wheel it should swap to provide 50% to one wheel. The kaaz will just lock to 50/50.

Sorry Mate. Been flat out as usual. Still in the boxes unfortunately. I need another set of 3.46's to build one up.

Was thinking the same today after a lot of one wheeling at a hillclimb yesterday.

They seem to tick all the boxes on paper/screen, would be nice to hear some real world feedback.

Got one built up and waiting to swap over into the GTS. Time is still the enemy.
