Measure once - cut twice... No wait!
Discussion
Awww dammit..
I ordered a Smoothbore inlet hose for the Chim and it arrived yesterday, I got overly excited and decided to fit it late yesterday evening..
OK so it was a bit too long initially, so I measured it, and then cut leaving PLENTY of spare material..
It was till a bit long so I measured again and cut a little more off..
Unfortunately for som STUPID reason I cut it off the plenum end this time and of course it's now about an inch too short!
Well, it does fit (just) but the MAF etc no longer follows the inner wing in a straight line and that irritates me!
As a consolation prize and to cheer myself up I ordered the full induction kit this time and I'll be a LOT more careful marking and cutting it!
Hopefully that'll arrive on Friday so i can fit that and the ACT Y-Piece at the same time.
Sometimes I am such an idiot, you'd think I'd have grown out of childish enthusiasm by now (I'm 47 FFS)...

Jules, remind me never to ask you to help me ever please........
On a serious note, if you want me to come over and help you with your induction kit and get it to fit like mine I will. cheers...
A good tip when you cut those large hoses is to push in the 3" steel tube into the hose end you want to reduce in length, fit and tighten the jubilee clip around the hose so the edge of the clip is where you want to cut. Make sure the jubilee clip is square on the hose and then cut around the edge/side of the jubilee clip with a sharp stanley knife. That way you get a perfect neat end.

Better still.......fitted my thick rubber ACT one at my TVR specialist while he was doing other things. Marked it a bit long, popped next door to the carpentry shop, where he cut it straight across on his electric band saw. Popped back, put it on the car, re-marked it with Tippex, back to the carpentry shop, cut again, perfect.
Sounds silly if you haven't done one, but it is so easy to confuse which end is which, and so awkward to work out how much to cut off. They come quite a bit too long, so the first cut is just to allow you actually to fit it with the AFM unbolted so that you can then mark it for the next cut(s)

Yes, I agree. I didn't notice the air filter hose in the box amongst the other stuff and packaging and was cursing trying to get the larger rubber bit through the hole. It's when I got it through the hole I realised it was too short and then searched for the extra bits in the box...Sounds silly if you haven't done one, but it is so easy to confuse which end is which, and so awkward to work out how much to cut off.
