... your pubic hair. Check out these insurance quotes for my Chim!!!

I need a company that will offer a good price with it insured on the drive overnight. Anybody you recommend? I don;t qualify for Mannings classic policy if it isn't garaged overnight (and my garage is full!).

And before you ask, this is with clean license, 4 yrs NCD on Chim/ 10 years on daily driver. One claim in 2010 (and in twenty years).

yikes

Jeez Chris that's rediculous.

I assume given your "name" you were born in 1972, well I am a BIT older (OK 7 years) but I only pay £400 a year fully comp with the car parked on the drive.

I'm with Adrian Flux..

I didn't have any NCD on this policy as I was using it all on my S and couldn't get a multicar policy to cover both. At renewal time I'll use the NCD that was on my S so hopefully it'll come down even more.

Crikey!

I’m 28 and insured with Admiral I think. I just changed over from my Z4 policy. I think it was an additional £70 over the Z4, half way through the year. I would have thought the total premium would have been around £500. I will go with a specialist insurer once this policy runs out though.

I was with Adrian flux for several years but have just switched to Aviva. I am 28 and was paying £700 with Flux for a Chim 400, but my new Aviva quote was £280!! Ok so I did limit mileage to 2000 (was 3000 miles with flux) and take commuting off, but adding the misus made a big difference even though she can't physically drive it.

My dearest quote on one of the comparison sites was £98k!!!
I would suggest trying A-Plan or RH Specialist. They may be able to help.

Chris, I've just checked on google earth, and your home is a little further away from Helmand Province
than the Insurance companies may think.
Try one of the specialists as said previously and I'm sure they will "quote you happy".
Let us know how you get on, as I am sure people will want to know for future renewals.
If you fancy it, have a drive over Sunday morning for our Breakfast meet. smile

Flux (as others suggest).

I used to get a very good deal on my Chimaera from Tesco. Might be worth a try.

At this point I would just like to say how much it sucks having to insure my car in here Germany.
All insurers want the bloody key number to search for the car which obviously doesn't exist. Then if they are capable of finding the marque it'll most likely be classed as an 'exotic' - definitely as an 'import' and the fact its RHD drives the price up even higher. Too young for clasic insurance too! GGGrrr. I'm paying about €130 a month! Oh, and having a UK (i.e. RHD) driving licence doesn't help either - does mean the authorities can't ban me though or give points :-)

Oh yes they can... We signed a reciprocal arrangement with all EU countries some time ago (I think it was 2011) even speeding tickets from France can now give you a fine and points...

I used to insure my Scimitar in Holland, it was RHD but as the "model" was over 15 years old they classed it as a classic. The added bonus was no TUV/MOT as classics were exempt.

Take your German driving test - that's what I did when I lived in Germany and again I had the Scimitar there and insurance was cheap(ish).

If there are any remnants of the British Army still there see if you can geta squaddie to introduce you to his insurer, I used to get amazing discounts going that route...

Thanks for your all your replies! Mannings quoted me £350 in the garage on their classic policy, but I don't really want to keep it in the garage as its full. I don't have a spare grand either to sort out a large shed and base in the garden to facilitate emptying the garage!

I've called A-plan and they are giving me a quote of £430.00 at the moment (including legal cover, protect NCD etc), but they need to make a few calls to confirm. Much more acceptable. this is limited to around 5k miles. 3k miles is too low I think. Actually, both A-plan and Mannings seem pretty down to earth and appear to know about the cars.

It is true, that when I moved from Burkina Faso to Nigeria my premium dropped, but remained the same in Helmand wink. However, a sleepy village in the Kent countryside is simply too much of a risk. I think it's because I'm near the white cliffs and some companies are obviously worried about another invasion on the south coast of England . There was apparently a large degree of unrest near my house 70 years ago, which has made premiums soar...rolleyes You can see my village in the background. I would like to point out that the Jagdgeschwader 51 isn't as loud as my Chim! biggrin
