I knew this wasn't going to be simple, so now I'm after some expert advice! I'll keep it nice and short! I've just had Sky installed, as I was eligible for 12 months television for free smile However ...

I have a Panasonic commercial plasma, which has three module bays for various connections. Two modules that are already installed are component only. I do have a third module, which is for SCART, but I'm not sure whether it works. I have never used it, but will try later!

So ...

The television only accepts component (possibly SCART) and the Sky box outputs via HDMI, SCART or composite. My amplifier (a Denon AVR-1912) accepts HDMI in and out, but the only other output seems to be RCA/composite video ... No component frown

I did buy this in preparation ...

... but it looks to do only component to HDMI, not HDMI to component. It doesn't work frown

Any ideas how I could connect the Sky box to the television? Are there any other adapters/converters that would work? I can't replace the television though ... It's perfect (except for the modules!); 58" with HD smile

Have a word with John or Joe at The Media Factory.

I think they still have access to the modules for commercial screens and may be able to get you an HDMI one.

Alternatively I think I have a HDMI to Component convertor in the garage that I took out from a project 4 or 5 months ago. I'll check and if so a few beer tokens would secure it for you.

Where are you based?

The obvious answer would be to use a converter that works the other way round, I don't have any experience of these myself so others may be able to make some recommendations.

Ignoring the display modules for a moment, what native inputs does the panel have? There's a possibility that if there's a DVI input then you may be able to use that with just a simple DVI to Hdmi lead, it does depend on the capabilities of the input though. A model number for your display might help.

The other possibility would be if you could obtain an Hdmi module and either replace a component input or use a free slot if it has any.

VEX, that would be excellent! I'm based in High Wycombe, but work in Princes Risborough. If the contact details on the website in your profile are anything to go by, you're pretty close!

I'm more than happy to give beer tokens if it'll convert from HDMI to component! Name your price! biggrin Would you prefer me to collect and pay cash, or would you rather post it (I'll pay postage) with PayPal or bank transfer? smile

I did find this ... http://www.hdconnectivity.com/hdmi-to-component-co... ... which looks like it would do the trick, but it's out of stock.

Jimbob, no native inputs on the television at all, with exception to VGA ... It's a Panasonic TH58PH10BK smile

Keene electronics do this and it'll sort your issue.

http://www.keene.co.uk/electronic/coosis/hdmi-v1.3...

It offers HDMI switching and it strips off the 5.1 sound via an optical output.

I'm sure I have a couple of dvi cards for Panasonic pro screens in my store, I will have a look and let you know, they do take an hdmi with the adapter. Back in the office on Tuesday.

Thanks for this! I'd be interested to know what sort of price one would be ... In the meantime, I have bought the converter from Keene AV, which will be here sometime tomorrow, just in time for the British GP! smile

Thanks for the help! thumbup

Let us know how you get on with the converter, hdcp compliment usually means sky won't work with it but a pc will due to the copyright issues. Some do strip this but not many.

Let me know if not.

I still haven't checked the garage, but I am sure there is a second hand one and a new one in there.
