safety camera vans

Got caught out Monday by a camera safety van/cash cow, I think I was doing around 80 on a 50 carriageway, 76 seems to be the threshold for not getting banned.I think the best I can hope for is 6 points and a large fine, worse case 3 month ban.I know punishment varies from county to county, but what are your experiences. Got it in the post today, i was clocked at 78,glad i was in the wifes golf gti and not the tuscan,i think my speed would of been rather faster than 78

I would contest it on a technicality, ie, photo id etc, etc find the loophole, like the mr loophole the solicitor.

I would appear in person at court. My nephew was done for 99mph on the motorway, got 3 points and £100 fine ( he already had 6 points). Wear a good suit and say you're sorry.

Please don't call them SAFETY cameras.

The correct name is SPEED cameras, safety has nothing to do with raising revenue.

I hate to admit it but the, (safety cameras ) do work.

I have 6 points for speeding, none in the tiv and both crappy 50+ MPH in 40 MPH limits.

I now drive like Miss Daisey, (ish) in anywhere but a real known quantity, sad but true.

Lucky on going on another TD tomorrow, 140 mph, bring it on!

Speed cameras WORK because they make you feel the need to drive slowly?

whats there to contest, 76 in a 50 is 3 ponints and a fine, court not required.

From experience you need to go to court for 30mph over the speed limit and then you dont get banned, I got 6 points and £200 for my last capture by the cash vans

Not drive slowly, I never said that but reasonably within the limits.

You don't NEED to go to court ..... But you got 6 points .
Pleading in guilty in person rather than by letter works, magistrates/procurator fiscals like to feel their own importance.
I am assuming you will not be offered a fixed penalty or a speed awareness course ... too much in excess of the speed limit.

just a quick look on the forum after watching the football. all the advice and experience are very good but, the judge wont look at the past cases. he will judge the cases on it's own merit. well then, he's got many option he can choose from.

Not with you.

So if I exceed the speed limit, ( which I often do in known areas) on NSLs in areas that I am unfamiliar with I then put two fingers up to the establishment but stand a very good chance of upping my 6 points on my license, (which both are for speeding from hand helds in obscure places on roads that I was unfamiliar with!).
