CGT to Aventador Roadster

I currently have a CGT but am tempted by the Aventador Roadster, especially as the soon to be opened (and very local) Lamborghini Pangbourne has just got one in.
Has anyone made the move (or the other way) and what are people''s thoughts?
Have you tried posting this in the FML&B forum as I am sure there will be more people over there who have made the jump one way or the other.Has anyone made the move (or the other way) and what are people''s thoughts?
As a side note, just curious really, why do you want to change? Are you bored with the GT or do you just fancy a change?
Even though they are both super-supercars, the GT (with its manual gearbox and two wheel drive) will (I imagine) be a massively different car to drive than the 4WD paddle-shift Aventador
I can’t speak with real authority on either car, as I have never owned either of them, but having been close to and having been driven in each on occasion I would say that the CGT is already a classic – a status the Aventador is unlikely to achieve.
As has been mentioned previously – each car is very different in character; but each has their own merits. If the choice were mine, and only one car was the option, then I would hang on to the CGT, it may not ever achieve full F40 status, but it will hold its value better in the long run and it is unlikely that anything similar will ever be produced again; the 918, La Ferrari and P1 are all evidence of this…

As already mentioned, very different cars so would depend on what you personally wanted from each car.
However the Aventador roadster is just another in the line of V12 lambos while the CGT IMO is the last of it's kind, the last analogue supercar that will ever be produced. Now given CO2 regs etc it might well be that the Aventador is the last V12 lambo as well but the CGT is still a far more special car I would say. Was lucky enough to spend some time poring over one recently and it was by far the best built car I had ever had the opportunity to look over.

what are people''s thoughts?
I would get the 458 Spyder myself and keep the CGT as my week end hack.what are people''s thoughts?
the Aventador is most often seen parked on hi end London roads outside designer shops :-)
depends what you want I guess.
The Aventador is a wide bus by all accounts at over 2 meters wide.
but IS the car to be seen in outside Prada.

Like many others, I don't speak with any real authority on this, however I personally would leap at the chance.
I never really liked the CGT, even though I'm a big Porsche fan, but the Aventador has 'grabbed' me like no other Supercar has done in the last 20 years.
I will own an Aventdor some day.

Put the Cgt on super sports , check the geo , check its on the eu drop links ( not the us ones ) , have reading examine the dampers to make sure they are not weeping ( very difficult to spot as very fine fluid leak ), once healthy you won't think twice .
With respect the aventador is a tank in comparison to the Cgt .

honestly I'd say it depends what you want from the change
having never driven either I would expect the Aventador to be more of an event visually but less involving as a drive.
that said how hard can you push either on a daily basis?
A correctly set up and maintained Cgt is a joy to push on the right tyres .having never driven either I would expect the Aventador to be more of an event visually but less involving as a drive.

A glorious thing , I prefer it to almost every other car made , the aventador is not even in the same league .
Edited to say I do prefer it to every car built since the seventies .
Only SUPERCARS that come close for me are the f's 40 and 50 . Both of which can't take the sheer abuse you can throw at the Cgt . It's a masterpiece .

To me the Cgt is the greatest Porsche road car since the 73 rs and the road going rsr's .I never really liked the CGT, even though I'm a big Porsche fan, but the Aventador has 'grabbed' me like no other Supercar has done in the last 20 years.

Thats some dilemma to have, don't envy you that, just not sure the new one will be the future icon that the CGT is, and thats not said through Porsche tinted specs, also not sure what the value prop is for the Aventador over the CGT ... i suspect that after the initial 'new toy' phase you'll probably wish you had stuck with the CGT.
Where in Pangbourne are they putting the new dealer ? We're regularly down there as the other half loves the cheese shop
If you're ever offering passenger rides in the CGT, let me know, I'm only up the road

May sound ridiculous (and I appreciate the history behind it) but I hate the beech gearknob.

if you are not bothered about the loss of money, the aventador is probably going to give you more laughs, as the CGT will go nowhere but up, and aventador nowhere but down.
I know someone who has the CGT and the aventador coupe (roaster on the way), and they have said if they had to keep one, it would be the CGT (part for the general feeling of the car and that v10, part assumptions on future value).
though he did say that the aventador was a lot faster, and a lot easier to drive hard.
hope my rambling helps a litte....

I don't doubt it's a brilliant car, but I think once you're past the £100k mark in car buying, it becomes much more than facts/figures/handling etc, and 'emotional draw' (X-factor?!) becomes a huge factor (which is entirely subjective and has no real bearing on how good/bad a car is).
The Murci/LP640 etc didn't really grab me. The Aventdor does (in a big way). Never driven either. No rational logic involved.
Thank you for all the responses...the new dealership is opening on the same site as the Bentley showroom. Late July I believe.
Both very different I agree. I have owned my CGT for almost 4 years. I love the fact that you need to mentally prepare before you drive it. That you never ever see any on the road. That is is totally bespoke (apart from the starter 993 motor) and impeccably made.
The Aventador seems much more accessible though (no clutch issues and 4wd) and I would therefore use it a lot more, especially with that 4 year warranty.
However, I know that I would never have a CGT again and that is something I need to get my head round.
Of course, having never driven an Aventador this is all irrelevant. I might find it too big and heavy on the local roads around Pangbourne....and dare I say, just too fast

You really do push your CGT hard don't you! I know from personal experience as you've been so gracious as to take me round Brunters and Spa in it. A glorious thing , I prefer it to almost every other car made , the aventador is not even in the same league .

My opinion matters not here but if it were me I'd keep the CGT and if my finances would allow at my time of passing and my family not be left financially challenged...I would be buried in it...

Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

) it isn't me as I would just be gutted that I couldn't have both.
